I do not have LSD in my car and thus far I have not needed it. These cars are so stable that even at my power level it does not feel edgy. I have seen other cars that make the kind of power that I am producing just loose control and end up being towed back. Remember, the only kind of racing I do is roll on and nothing else. I hope this helps?

Did you remove all of the parts related to the front drive? Thanks

Do you think traction control helps with this. I don't see how with nearly 1000 hp, no awd or lsd, you can get traction, but if it works that is all that matters

After driving only RWD, front-engine cars all my life (from 300-500hp) til this year with the 996TT, I can say I am quite amazed how these cars put down good amounts of power without posi/limited slip and with a manual tranny.

RWD all the way for me.

If anyone has/is going to convert back to AWD, I would be interested in your front axle/spindle pieces for the ABS:

I do DE's with my local Porsche club and have left my car AWD. I find it confidence inspiring and very forgiving on the track. A number of times coming too hot out of a corner I had slight 4 wheel drift and caught it and was on my way. Probably if my car was RWD, I would have spun. I like the AWD.

I have the UMW flash, and at my last event, I mixed 93 with 100 octanes at a 50/50 rate. The car ran smoother and had more punch. The last session of the day I needed to refuel so just put in 93, knowing I'd be running out the tank on the street. There was a definite decrease in performance.

I love mine RWD, I was at the streets of Willow last month and the car was awesome with no understeer. My turbo is docile and gentle because my motor is stock but an LSD is in my plans.

Thanks to all you guys who put in valuable information on this topic. You unwittingly saved the life of an overzealous, inexperience driver.

I am currently RWD as it seems my front Dif calfed. I kind of like it, as it is sort of an improvement in performance. I WILL however be going BACK to AWD for the winter though...VERY easy mod to do and just as easy to re-install. You need NO parts to undo and NO parts to redo.

I am mechanically qualified to assemble toys (for kids), that's about it.

TTboost: Seeing as you're in new england, maybe you can do a 3 hour drive up my way and enlighten me. If you're a godsmack fan, we can walk over to Sully's house and have a beer. He's right across the street from me. If you're not, then I don't have much to offer you in the way of a trade.

Shut up! Godsmack opened on tour for my friend's band Pushmonkey back in late 1998. The next year, Godsmack was huge and my buddies band broke up. OH, and I love my RWD.

We are very good friends. This is a pic of my wife, him and myself backstage at one of his concerts.
