Why did you switch back from RWD to AWD
The only variable was about a 65/35 mix of 93/MS109 gas, with no race file. In other words I put in about four gallons of MS109 and ran this time with a UMW 93 Flash. The Temp was actually either the same or warmer the day of the 8.40 run.
I know this is gay, but I ran this run the morning after I met my Fiance.

it is only gay if your fiance' is a man

so the two runs were with different files and fuels. UMW files are really good, so that may account for a big portion of the difference. Hard to say how much of that was rwd unfortunately.
Thanks
NO. There was not a different file used. It was the same 93 Flash on both runs, which is adaptive, but not as much as a UMW Race file would have been.
ok, so was the fuel mix pretty much the same. UMW's tune will adjust considerably to higher octane so if you did up the octane, there will be a noticeable difference.
Is anyone with a with the conversion or disconnected drive shaft having PMS lights or issues? My thought is if the car is losing traction and trying to transfer torque to the front, what happens?
All of my equipment has been removed.
good point. What does the PSM do when the driveshaft is disconnected?
There is still mechanical linkage when the drive shaft is removed.
If ya'll will notice there have been several mentions here that the handling was extremely scary with just the drive shaft removed. When the conversion is done properly(all parts removed not just drive shaft, especially half shafts and drive shafts) there are rarely complaints, aside from track junkies like Kerr. Even then Tom I believe is happy with the way he's configured the RWD.
I have had zero PSM issues in RWD.
Just trying to help.

guess best question is to ask yourself why do you want to switch?? I mean lets be honest your really need to be pushing the car to detect the real differences. If you dont have the ability to really stretch the cars legs, wherever that may be, the bottom line is it may really not matter much?

Good point. If you arent pushing the limits of the car, then all you are gaining is straight line speed at the sacrifice of additional safety. End of story.
As for the PSM, I had no problems, the car was still planted and stable, but I did feel like my car was grinding gears, may have been due to the lack of LSD and one wheel spinning freely. But either way it was not good with lots of shifting.

I keep it AWD to use in the snow. Snow tires too.
In the dry, it is so good at what it does and so fast, I don't think I am driver enough to go rwd. It is fun to four wheel drift in awd. I can do that and did it at VIR...first time was NOT on purpose....

What Tom said is right. My friend did the conversion. I also drove his set up. My conclusion is; AWD for the road, RWD for the track. Even if you can drive well road is too unpredictable, 2 many variables and 2 many unknowns. So when pushing our cars AWD and PSM are serious assets for the road. The other day my friend and I were returning from the local race track. It started to rain and road was getting damp and slippery. There was no contest. My car walked his and so did most “crap” cars that were on the road. He said in such conditions, he just turns on the radio now and doesn’t even bother – too many close encounters with the opposite lock and with his heart in the mouth. I think this illustrates the point…
