Need advice please - Idle issues
I'm having weird idle issues at start up, and hesitation issues.
The car searches for idle to the point now that when its on its down swing thru 1000 rpm it dips too low and stalls. If I start the car and let it idle the problems are less pronounced. Because of my straight pipes I am usually trying to get moving as soon as possible, and this starts the problem. Lately after the car dies from the "idle hunting," it doesn't start right away. It takes a few extra turns of the starter to get the car going. I'm also having hesitations below 4000RPM.
Could this be plugs, MAF, or O2 sensor? Powell and I are going to meet up tomorrow at lunch and run his Durametrics software on the car. Any idea what we should be looking for within the program? I'm unfamiliar and trying to get a head start so as not to waste to much of Chris' time.
Thanks for any and all advice.

Sean, I do have the stock airbox, and a K&N airfilter that is about 3 months old. I washed the filter out with water and then lightly sprayed it with K&N filter oil. I don't think it is the filter, as there isn't much oil on it at all.
LWFW causes stalls too....

Any pointers on how to configure the Durametric software, and look for 02 MAF and/or plug issues?

Configure durametric?...Huh....just plug it into the OBD and select the Motronic 7.8 turbo....it will report the codes...You can also navigate through the modules for more info. (RTFM). There are several reasonable guesses above:
1. Plugs/coil packs...when did you last change /inspect?
2. Leak...somewhere in the vacuum system
3. Maf... personally I don't buy the clean the MAF thing (I've done it with zero results)...if the MAF is bad...it is bad...no resurrecting by cleaning.
4. LWFW, but I assume your programming has been modified to take care of this (mine was)

I met with Ryan for lunch and to hook up the Durametric. There were no codes and everything (both bank o2s, timing, maf count, etc) were all normal. Nothing was lagging behind like they do when something is failing. The only thing we think it can be since it does it when it's on a cold startup is that it's a mixture of the straight pipes (with cats) and the LWFW. Since I put my straight pipes (no cats) on the car kinda shakes like its missing a tiny bit when it starts up, but after a second it stops. So that is my only guess what it could be. Everything else checked out fine.

Statman, did you have Kevin adjust for it? I need to call and see if there is such a fix for a K16 flash.

One simple step to see if it is MAF related. Disconnect the MAF and turn on the car. I have raced with my car on my old stage IV set up with a disconnected MAF, nothing happened. How many miles on spark plugs? Were your injectors changed?
I'm pretty sure we concluded that it's not the MAF. The MAF numbers matched up the same as Powell's MAF numbers. Isn't this an indication that its not the MAF? It has been 20K since the plugs were changed. I haven't touched the injectors.
