been 2 weeks since i've picked up the new 03 TT. noticed that on the rear driver side wheel hub (the grey area between the wheel & brake rotor) is rusted.

didn't take a close look since it's getting dark outside, but how can i clean the rust out, or i can't?? is it part of the rotor?

The dealer will remove the rust and paint them under warranty.

It is caused by someone using acid(wheel cleaner) on your wheels. Make sure you tell those bozos washing your car, NO WHEEL CLEANER. It happened on my previous car and Porsche wouldn't pay for it, chalked it up to "normal." Anyway, have since, always requested soap and water only at car wash and haven't had the problem again.

I have some rust on my hubs and all I've ever used is P21S Wheel Cleaner. And since the car was delivered to the dealer, I'm the only person that has washed the car.

 

Perhaps the dealer when prepping used wheel cleaner. Also, if I am not mistaken, although very mild, P21S also has a detergent of some kind in it.

 

No problem with what the dealer used to clean the wheels during their pre-delivery detailing...I know their detailer (Tony at J. Ellis) and what he uses; checked all that out before deciding to allow them to clean the car, or do it myself.

As far as P21S goes, there's not much short of water that's safer to use on your wheels.

I think the bottom line is Porsche needs to use better/harder paint on the hubs.

 

I was not aware of that, thanks for info. BTW, what in P21S cleans your wheel then if there is nothing more acidic than water?? I can put soap on my wheels and as you know, the wheel does not get clean without some major scrubbing. If there is nothing in P21S, why use it??

All I can say is it's great stuff...and totaly safe.

 

I use the Zymol wheel cleaner and love it!!
I also use the P21S Gel sometimes...

I have the same issue. Can I take it to any dealer or just the selling dealer?

 

better phone the dealer first.

my dealer told me they gonna take the brake rotor out to paint them.
