Back on topic....

I still am getting this intermittent low boost/high boost thing.... one minute I max out at .6 bar, then under same conditions soon after, it will hit 1.0 - 1.1 bar. This has happened 2 or 3 times now in the past week. Maybe disconnecting the battery that day really didn't do anything?

Anyone else ever have this happen?

Nope. not since I replaced that wiring harness and the stock MAF.

Occasionally it has been running a little rougher lately, but it isn't very often. And I have about 10k miles on the plugs.

This is *EXACTLY* the same symptoms I had, including the intermittent behavior, when I had a bad DV. See my earlier post in this thread.

They are a PITA to get in and out. You can test them for leaks by removing the vacuum line on top and putting some suction on them. I used a brake bleeder hand vacuum pump. If the vacuum bleeds off, you have a leaky DV.

Hmmm.... I looked at your previous post re this. You mentioned colder weather could be the culprit. Well, it has gotten colder (for here) lately. Was in the high 40s last night for the first time this year.

I am hoping I can just struggle through this little nuisances I have been having lately til I decided on a turbo kit - GT660, k24/18g, hybrid of some kind?

Is it dangerous to keep driving my car with a potentially leaky DV? Are these things known/prone to just go bad?

thanks

do you have stock wgs?
Would there be a fuse to pull to reset the ECU easier than disconnecting the battery?

Yes, they are known to go bad. You are almost certainly going to replace them when you upgrade the turbos anyway, why wait? It isn't that hard to test them. Look at the photos below. Remove the hose at the top of the diverter valve, then pull a vacuum using a brake bleeder like the one shown in the second picture. You can get one at AutoZone. Test both of them. The one in back is harder to get to.

If they both hold vacuum, then this may not be your problem. But I'd be willing to bet it is. No disrespect to the guys who are blaming this on flaky ECU, but this is a much more likely explanation.

Thanks for the pics. Although I am very mechanically UNinclined, I will give it a shot!

Although my car ran great all day today for about 80 miles and in 45-55 degree weather.
