RWD conversion spidle Part #'s
Tim,
The spindles that are in the car now can continue to be used. You have to take(pry, cut, Dremel, chip away, cuss, sweat) the bearing races out of the front hub area, which lets the two front half shafts be removed. The front uprights can be replaced with the GT3 part, but I am not sure which one that is. I had the most support from JoeTwinT and Suncoast, with my conversion. I spent zero money converting my car. Good luck.

Yea, pull them out and cut them apart. Then reinstall. No reason to spend the money for a DME stub...The ABS pickup and the spindle is all you need so you can keep the bearing together and the ABS working.
996 TT RWD Conversion
I am new to this forum and would appreciate some technical information on converting a 996 TT to RWD.
Background, I am a ME and do all of my own work. I have raced early 911’s and am used to the challenge (don’t lift). I have several early 911’s and have been thinking about building another (early) track 911 but I like the newer 911’s as the chassis development is impressive. I have a 02 996 but my one track experience was not good as the non dry sump engines are not up to aggressive track use.
My budget is not unlimited (the 996 was $32K) but I looked at the 01 996 TT as it has a “real” Porsche engine but several local club members dissuaded me as the 4WD system makes it understeer on the track. I thought about converting it to RWD but was also told several had tried but could not make it work (nanny electronics I was told). I picked up the 02 996, added PSS10, etc and while it is a great road car, it can’t take track work.
Well today, I thought I would do a bit of web research and came across this forum! I am encouraged as it seems several of you have done the conversion! Good news.
Question: Is there a thread, web site that goes through all the steps and any electronic issues? I searched the site and could not find a clear thread on it.
Thanks for the help!

Wrong Part #'s
I just tried to install them and they are wrong.
The PSM wheel is too large in diameter
by > 1/2". Not allowing a full seating on the inside bearing.
Any update on the correct part #'s?
