a picture is worth a thousand words... newbie help

as a newbie looking for my first porsche, I have been reading this forum for days and days. thanks to everyone for helping me get up to speed.

A dealer I know (who is also clueless on porsches) sent me a few pictures of an 03 tt but doesn't know the owner. All he knows is that the car has been lowered and exhaust was put on. would anyone care to comment on the car by only looking at these 4 pictures? thanks in advance.

All I can see is that the exhaust tips are not stock. there has been a rear wing added. the front spoiler is not stock? It is tiptronic, has navigation. I notice that some cars have a white face guages while others are black. Is this an option package (mercedes only has white face guages on AMG or sports package cars) or an individual option? I also notice the center console is silver.

Ok, so the only factory options are- tiptronic, soft leather seats, left and right lumbar support, porsche crests on headrests, PCM and silver rear center console.

UPDATE- the car has techart pedals, techart exhaust (he cant tell if it is the tips or the whole exhaust), a techart airbox and bilstien shocks. Thanks everyone for helping out. I think I am going to lowball him and see what he comes back with.

I think you would have to supply quite a bit more info if you want a worthwhile feedback. Mileage, how many owners, price etc.
Good luck though, looks promising.

Well, it's a TIP. Love 'em or hate 'em. I love mine.
Looks like it has intake splitters too. How many miles? Get a PPI. See how she checks out. The front spoiler looks stock with an added piece in the front inlets. Find out as much as you can about the mods. Report back.

X71 aluminum instrument dials is an option. You can find all its option codes on a white sticker on the underside of the trunk. You can also use that code list to determine if your center console is factory or aftermarket I suppose. The pedals are aftermarket as well. Nice car.

Have you run carfax, autocheck AND Googled the VIN?

There are two paths for due diligence- one is the car- what does it tell you. PPIs, drives, body condition. The other is history- as mentioned above, Porsche records... with other cars you can have a dealer pull the service/warranty history and let you know what was done (not prior owners, but generically what the mfg/service organization did to the car) This can lead you to what dealers worked on it, and contacting them can lead you to more information.

I would simply not buy a car without history. Especially if it was modded. But that's me

owners- not great news, looks like it is a CA car, but was originally registered as a corporate vehicle for 2 years. I am not really sure what corporate car means. Usually with bmw/benz/audi dealers purchase stripped down cars for loaners/service vehicles. I am not sure how it is done with porsche. then it was leased for coming up on 4 years.

mileage- 35k.

price- negotiable. We already discussed auction numbers (since that is where he will be taking it if I don't purchase it)

From the pics, the car looks pretty much stock except for added fins on the front grill and side intakes, and the sport pedals. She looks to be lowered, you'll need to find out with "what". Take a test drive (or have someone) and see how much she boosts up; an un-mod car can boost up to about .7 bar. Like other said, you need a PPI on this one.

TechArt Type I rear wing blade. I believe starting in 2003, the white gauge faces with "turbo" script is standard. Before that it was black.

Who's the dealer? What is the maximum boost you see when driving it? If above .7 - 0.8 bar then it is chipped...

I see 'corporate' a lot, but think it is either a lease or a car owned by a business for the owner's use.

I doubt it is a Porsche Corporate Loaner (it IS a turbo!)

Really all leases are 'corporate owned' one way or the other... not sure why some leases hit carfax as 'lease' and others show a 'corp'...

Thanks. Yes, the white faces are either stock or a mod since there was no X71 option on the car.

Callas Rennsport says he will charge $1300ish for a PPI? (seems high?). My offices is only 5 minutes away from him. I was told he is very detailed with his inspections? He says he has to take off the front bumper to check the intercoolers as well as look at overrevving through the dealer tool and then check for valve leaks.
