Evolution of my 996 Turbo
You can't afford one either huh, and when you're done with that could you return it to KPG?

This will shape up to be quite the showdown, I'm thinking. Holy Jeebus, 40 pages is too much to play catch up with the entire thread, but I'm looking forward to seeing several of you in action at the Texas Mile. I'll be the one following you on the bike!

Kerry ,I am sorry I can't be part of your event.....Having to start from the bottom and race 3 Porsches just to get in and compete is more than i bargained for.Considering the speeds I am looking to achieve in the mile it will be hard to focus on anything else but if you can make this one race happen between Rob and myself I am there

...I need to pay KPG for transport
. And by the way Joe's car is running
. The mile will need ALL his attention. No ****ing kidding....
Robert, this post is deeply offensive to me. It is unconsciencable for you to insinuate the dbox you will be borrowing is mine. For the record, Alex told me the dbox he borrowed from me was lost in shipping.I will go to my grave with the belief FEDEX wronged Alex in this matter. For you to even suggest it is still in his possession is an uncalled for character assasination. Everyone knows Alex has never bull****ted, fabricated or otherwise been fast and loose with the truth. I for one will not stand for your toxic sarcasm and cynicism directed towards another Porsche enthusiast. I demand you retract your post immediately ,apologize to VR and then start picketing the FEDEX hq since they are the true embodiment of evil. I truly thought you were better than this.... Boostfully yours, Kevin

My car was at an authorized EVOMs dealer which was named Imagine Auto. It was there for about 12 months?? I will not get into that out of respect for Todd Z. Total time at Protomotive, I think was three days?? Total time to build my 3.8 back in 2007 I think was 4 to 5 months? It has been in and out of the shop for various reasons from blowing clutches, transmission to my wreck a few days before Supra Nats.
Joe
I run my car almost weekly and you can have all the verified records you like but I think it was Todd Z who ran your car to 231. Whatever, if you want to race me from a roll then lets just do it! I will be in Goliad but as you are aware I am wait listed.

Joe, I really thought you ran that 231 pass.....
After all the hard data that Rob has given us...Videos, time slips, 60-130, these are all documented. I mean how could you? I mean this car made 1K hp...How could you not believe it
... Rob just give him ONE of these PLEASE.... make Joe a believer

You dont even have to post it....PM Joe we all believe you!!!

I have to just smile reading this thread. These two cars are both insane. I'm sure given different contests each would have their own strong points.
That brings me to another observation ....... since when does one contest determine anything? It's not unlike a top pro team getting beat by an underdog on any given day. **** happens and then some people just like to fan the fires.
It's really nice to be able to run and just have fun. I believe it is bystanders who like to fan the fires and bring on the drama. It is so nice to have fun running and then after the run talking about what could I have done better or what could I improve.
One other thing. Cars of this caliber can kill instantly at the speeds and velocity being discussed. I would deter anyone who does not have some gradual built upon experience from participating just because they goaded into it. I'd really hate to be reading RIP's about anyone. Experience isn't born, it is learned and acquired by gradually building up experience.

volunteer to drive a 996TT (any of the top ones) to their top speed.
I know that at 180 mph plus, the stock 996 TT can be a bit of a handful.
At 190 mph + (I have been there a few times) it takes full attention
and nearing 200 mph it starts to become downright frightening.
At 230 mph + it will require a different mindset and remember you have to
slow the damn thing down...REAL FAST !!
I agree completely, I would honestly love to know how many of us would
volunteer to drive a 996TT (any of the top ones) to their top speed.

However, it seems to me that the acceleration has to be at least as scary as the top speed.

Any heros out there? Come and drive my car on DRs at 16 psi and you will change 3 lanes on the highway.... heck, Todd almost wrecked my car when he was doing 60 to 130s a few years ago( evident by the flat front tire.).... that is when he said enough is enough...
This is not a joke.. I am first to admit that running my car on DRs at high boost is very scary... it takes someone very experienced to feel comfortable enough to drive a RWD P car with 1000+ hp on DRs...
Be safe guys,
mark
