How is it done? Do I need the Porsche scanner? Can durametric or autoenginuity handle such a task?

 

You do need the PIWIS to set it. There is a screen where you will zero it out then do the alignment.

Since I'm in a process of shopping around for a Scanner and I was researching the Durametric tool I watched this video link:

and apparently their software will also callibrate the steering angle sensor.

 

Some aftermarket software developers are catching up pretty fast, they are not yet there, but are mighty close,cheers.

 

Durametric may have a new software release since I upgraded a few months ago. Be sure it will reset the steering angle sensor on your type of vehicle. I tried to check it on a 996tt and it wouldn't accommodate me. It would only do the SUV if I remember correctly. A phone call should answer the question.

 

I think they matrix on the Durametric site shows that steering sensor reset from MY2005 on.....

 

That is correct. I just got my Durametric cable yesterday and it will not calibrate the sensor on a 2002 996tt.
