Sound Deadening...

Anyone tried to make the interior of their 996TT quieter? Trying to quiet down a little bit of exterior buzz/sound/vibration... I'd like to know what's worked for others...

Mike

Dynamat has some good materials out there, but I would concur with Tom, you're just adding weight.

Here are a couple of options... I have had experience with Dynamat materials (a carpet-esque adhesive that just adds some sound deadening material to wherever you stick it) but have never used the roll on schtuff.

Dynamat-like material... sticks to the inside of door panels or wherever you need it.
eDead stick on stuff

Roll On Adhesive.

The roll on is supposed to be used on top of your OEM sound deadening material, so if you've already gone lightweight, probably not going to work unless you add some Dynamat/eDead material before hand.

I don't think those noise can be eliminated; just turn the music up until you don't hear anything else... or go straight pipe.

PO put $1600 into dynamat into my car. It is one of the few records I got with the car. The car weighs 3350# with awd so not a big deal....the PO liked his music. No major weight saving attempted. I actually like it a lot. Sound is great...but driving it can be done at 4k rpm via speakerphone.... With the windows down...Boom....just the right stuff was left out in the rear to let you hear growl (his words) but the buzz and hum of road noise is subdued. You hear the tires talk, trust me.

Anyway, I'd never do it. I think he pulled the OEM stuff out (had it done) and put dynamat in instead to keep the weight down and improve the stereo sound.
