Like the lights! Porsche should have used those headlights for the 997 and the 997s on the 987.

I'll keep my 996TT still, Porsche needed to do more of a change after 8 years of the old style. They could have dropped the 3.4l into the 'S' for 300hp also.

Of course you'll keep your 996TT, how could a boxster possibly replace a TT?

Also, if they dropped the 3.4l into the 's" for 300hp, it'd probably be faster than a 911 Carerra which would be terrible for 911 Carrera sales.

That's the problem with Porsche's thinking. They're concerned that a faster Boxster (vs. 997) will caniballize sales. Meanwhile, lower priced cars are far outperforming the Boxster.

I guess the solution is to make the 911 faster. When I bought my M3 before, I considered the 911 C2, but seeing as the M3 offered very close performance (and a much better look IMO) for less money, I went with the M3 and said "I'll get an M3 now and then a 911 Turbo later".

I think the solution is to make the 911 faster so that someone looking at an M3 will have to take a closer look at the 911. Then the Boxster could be faster without caniballizing the 911's sales.

In other words, make BOTH cars faster so that the Boxster is faster than it's cheaper competitors and make the 911 (non-Turbo) faster than it's competitors to keep the gap the same!

That's a game that Porsche's not really going to be able to play...especially considering the new M3 is supposed to be coming out with 400HP.

I think the Boxster's increases in power are perfect considering its position in the model line. The only thing they should have done differently is made the 997S the base model for the 911 series, since the 997 standard Carrera is hardly an improvement over the 996.

IMO all the base cars should have the present GT3(380hp) engines. The "s" should be at least 400 hp which I bet the can do with forced injection. Then it could keep up or beat with the new vett and all others. If they need to widen the car a little they can do it. There sure is room.
