Yellow and Blue

I am probably like most of the people following this thread that are annoyed by the varying mix of yellowish and bluish white lights on the TT. So with much thanks to M32 (Edwin), I installed LED sidemarkers today.

Here are the photos:
1) The LEDs from www.superbrightleds.com circled in red (they just fit)
2) The installed LEDs look great with the headlights
3) They look bad with the parking light (next install)
4) They look bad with the foglight

So I am thinking of getting these parking lights BAX9 from
http://superlumination.com/otherleds.htm
H6W BAX9s 64132 Bayonet Bulbs (Offset Bayonet Pins)
The Cool White 6 LEDs to better match the headlights and sidemarkers

For the foglights superlumination has these H3s
http://superlumination.com/headlights.htm
that would seem to match well.

Open to all suggestions here, but really what to rid the front of the car of the yellowish white.

I've noticed that if you want to match "cool white" or "white" Leds, your foglight will need to be either converted to a 6000k HID or get a h3 bulb that gives off that "look". I'm not sure who sells it b/c I'm going another route with my fogs

anyone have instructions on how to convert the foglights-h3 to hid? I tried on mine but I'd have to do some cutting and modding to the headlights so they fit...I need other opinions before I do that.

LED bulbs

hi guys,
i thought that the LED from superbright, the 5W luxeon wants were already impedance matched? i was thinking about getting them for the 996tt as well....

had any one figured out what type of signal relay we have in the 996? that website has solid state relays that will flash it at correct rate, so claimed, but we need to know where/what type of pin config we have....
i don't want to put load resistors at each light...

i'm looking to change the rear park/stop but ultimately get some bright LEDs for turn signals as well....there is no equivalent to 7507 but tail/stop are 7528 which is a 1157 and backup is 7506 which is a 1156...

tony has 996 rear assembly made of full LEDs and it looks NICE but none for TTs... as ours have 1" extra height and guess not enough TTs there for $ reasons....

hi there....i found electronic Relays for the flasher that we can use for our 996s...
i'm in the process of changing out the bulbs to as Many LEDs as possible and changing the relay is better than adding a bunch of load resistors....
let's talk...

correct flash rate

relay CF 13GL-02 at superbrightleds.com is fine....
the flash rate is correct w/o using resistors...
i changed the turn sig bulbs to eagleeye 5W from superlumination.com and it is nice and bright and LED speed on/off !

trying to get a bax9 but the 9 smt LED was slightly big on 1 of the 2 and wouldn't go in....the other one, same LED, went in fine... BA9S-WHP9 from superbrightleds.com....

maybe need to get the ones on earlier post.... what's the bright for that parking light so far?

Amen! I'd love to know what bulbs to put in up front, in back, and what flasher to use. I'm not looking to do the strip of LEDs for running lights but would like to swap out the stock bulbs and have the correct flasher operation - with noise - if possible.

Temperature of bulb

After visiting some of the recommended sites there are listings for 'Super White' Bulbs with 5500 - 6000K and 8000 - 8500K. Trying to match the HID low beam, would I want 6K or 8K bulb?

Thanks,

Joe

Reading the comments and visiting http://www.superlumination.com/
I've posed a question to superlumination about the temperature of the bulbs on their web site and matching the Porsche HID low beam. M32 remarked on 1-19-2009..."I've noticed that if you want to match "cool white" or "white" Leds, your foglight will need to be either converted to a 6000k HID or get a h3 bulb that gives off that "look"." Superlumination offers both the 6K & 8K bulbs. the BAX9s H6W bulb has the correct pin offset (9 & 2 o'clock).

1 Autolumination Xenon Bulb Wattage-H3 Low Watts (55) Color-5.5K–6K Super White ($3.99x2) $ 7.98

2 Bayonet Ba9x 6 Led Color-Cool White Lens-BAX9s ($6.99x2) $13.98

3 Autolumination Xenon Bulb Wattage-H11 Low Watts (55) Color-5.5K-6K Super White ($5.99x2) $11.98

I'll update this when I have more info.

Joe

It can be done. When the weather here in MI is higher than 10-15 degrees I'm going to get one headlamp assembly out and see options for mounting a ballast/wiring for fog HID kit. The ballasts are so small now its great. I'll post any results.

Temp of HID bulb?

Does the HID bulb ('02 911) put out a 6K or 8K light?

OK, have been following along but am more than a little confused. The only bulbs I'm interested in changing out are my parking lights at this time. Using the Osram Sylvania guide to replacement bulbs (had to use 2002 model year, but I own a 2001 996TT), I see the official bulb name appears to be the 64132.

Now looking through the links provided on this thread, I see the following choices on this site:

http://www.42draftdesigns.com/categories/products/leds_pushturn.htm

I see 2 styles, the BAX9S and the BA9S, and I believe the BAX9S is correct since it offers the 9 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions. Is this correct? Thanks a lot guys/gals.
