I too am confused! I need the tiny bulbs up front in the headlight housing that come on as parking lights. The fog lights in the little projector housing would also be good as one of mine is dead (have one of the others little bulbs dead too) but it looks like no LED option for that? My marker lights are clear, should probably be yellow on the front fenders so swapping those might be good if the blinker module issue has been figured out. HIDs are fine thank goodness, was quite a surprise to look over the front end and find so much not working right!

This is a 2002 so if someone could just list the parts in a straightforward manner it woul dbe helpful. <sigh>

Temp of bulbs in healight assembly

I've posed a question to superlumination about the temperature of the bulbs on their web site and matching the Porsche HID low beam. M32 remarked on 1-19-2009..."I've noticed that if you want to match "cool white" or "white" Leds, your foglight will need to be either converted to a 6000k HID or get a h3 bulb that gives off that "look"." Superlumination offers both the 6K & 8K bulbs. the BAX9s H6W bulb has the correct pin offset (9 & 2 o'clock).

1 Autolumination Xenon Bulb Wattage-H3 Low Watts (55) Color-5.5K–6K Super White ($3.99x2) $ 7.98

2 Bayonet Ba9x 6 Led Color-Cool White Lens-BAX9s ($6.99x2) $13.98

3 Autolumination Xenon Bulb Wattage-H11 Low Watts (55) Color-5.5K-6K Super White ($5.99x2) $11.98

I'll update this when I have more info.

Joe

Follow-up:

The H11 high beam @ 6K pairs up nicely with the HID low beam (6K, too). The 6K H3 did not come in as close as I would have hoped for. I just ordered the 8K H3s, and will post my results. I actually went with the
5 SMT LED Cool White BAX9s. It's a good match, but reflects off the blue in the H11 bulb. It does match the DRL LEDs and it's a great improvement from the origional bulbs.

I'll post when I get results.

Joe

Using the Osram Sylvania guide to replacement bulbs (had to use 2002 model year, but I own a 2001 996TT), I see the official bulb name appears to be the 64132.

Now looking through the links provided on this thread, I see the following choices on this site:

http://www.42draftdesigns.com/categories/products/leds_pushturn.htm

I see 2 styles, the BAX9S and the BA9S, and I believe the BAX9S is correct since it offers the 9 o'clock and 2 o'clock positions. Is this correct? Thanks a lot guys/gals.
Just to follow up on my own post, in case it helps anyone else out there...I ordered the BAX9S from the company noted in my previous posts (LED white) and just installed them today. I don't have any night pictures of them yet, but can confirm that they do indeed fit and work properly, but are considerably dimmer than the stock parking light bulbs overall. At $5 per bulb, I have no problems with this experiment, but will likely try to find some brighter LEDs to try in the future at some point.

DRL, and other bulbs

Steve,

Go to superlumination.com

Scroll down to 'Other Automotive Leds'

Scroll down about 1/4 of the page to 'Introducing the New 5 Led 1895 Ba9s'.

Below that you'll see H6W BAX9s 64132 @ $9.99 each. These have 5 LEDs and put out more light. They also are the same temp as the LED DRLs. Although they are not a match to the 6K HID D2S & the 6K H11 high beam, it is a great imrovement over the stock bulbs (very yellow). The 6K H11 bulb has a blue coating on it & the parking LED (BAX9s) 'throws' alot of the H11's blue when the parking light (LED) is on, I don't find it objectionable. When you are using this during daylight or dusk the blue is not that apparent, only at night (how often are you just using your parking lights when it's dark?).

When I get the 8K H3 fog lites, I'll post picts and final comments.

Joe

This series highlights the Low Beam 6K HID D2S and the 6K H3 Fog light bulbs. I'll post the 8K bulbs when they arrive.

On the off-chance that this would help anyone, I did snap some night-time photos of the LED parking lights tonight. My timing was no good to compare the old lights with the new ones as my daytime pictures didn't turn out worth a damn, but at least you can see the color of the new bulbs fairly well here. These are the LED white lights, yet you can see they appear similar to the factory HID light color overall (with my house lights in the background more similar to the yellow of the factory bulbs).

Anyway, crummy pictures for sure...but the best I could do for now.

Greetings,

Great write up. I only discovered the SuperBrightLED website after already ordering LED Side Marker and Parking Light LED's. Side marker works great but the shop my car is at was having problems with the Parking Bulb LED, I emailed them your write up and told them to clip the bayonet like you did. The SuperBrightLED website is a little confusing. I also want to replace my Turn Signal Bulb and Fog Lamp Bulb but they have several choices and not sure what relay to use.

Did you replace any other bulbs with LED? I have a 99 911, would do you recommend for Turn Signal, Fog Lamp and Relay?

The turn signal bulbs are bigger in size. So no, they are not interchangeable.
