Value to a Nav and CD Changer?

I'm considering replacing the NAV unit and changer in my 04 TT. Since it is an 04, it is MOST fiberoptic based. It is CD-based, but the latest PCM2 with the latest sw updates, including new NAV CDs.

Any thoughts on whether it has any value? It's a decent system, I just want some features it doesn't include.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Tom

I've seen them anywhere between 1k and 1500... LA Porsche dismantlers wanted 1250. If by "new CDs" you mean the 8 CD set, that should have a standalone value of 200-250 I'd guess.

for those who value stock 1 to 1.5K is a great deal...porsche wanted more than double that to put nav in. and stock nav is better than lexus 04 nav that I used in FLA. couple weeks ago. I know its sort of a pain to program...but it works, esp for the infrequent user...

OT - but where do you buy those NAV CDs at? Mine's an 01 with Nav and it sucks so much cause the CD software is 2001

I need a NAV CD that has paved CIVILIZED up to date roads, not ancient with the Oregon trail as the main highway in it

YOu aren't going to get them. The disks aren't updated for the PCM1 in your car (same as mine). The newest ones are labeled 2001.1 and you can order a set through navteq.com for about $300. I assume you will already have the most up to date set though.

I think I heard you can get updated ones, but have to go the a Porsche dealer. I think the post 2001.1 discs require new software on the nav flash that the dealer has to do...

That is what I heard on reading some other posts...

Yeah, but those updated disks are for the other systems (with MOST). If you have them, you can upgrade them and then get the newer disks. In a 2001 with PCM1, your last disks are the 2001.1. There is some extensive research done on renntech.org and that seems to be the general consensus. If I am wrong, i would be extremely happy since I have no disks for my Nav and it is worthless to me at the moment. All it does it shows me Los Angeles Airport and I am in NY!
