996TT and Deer don't mix
Had the car for about 5 weeks.
Hit a deer last night at speed.
Surprisingly, not that much damage. It will need a bumper cover, one light and some work on the hood. Can't tell if there is hidden damage yet. Lots of fur embedded in the bumper.
The deer managed to get up and run away. I hit it going at least 40 (it is a 55mph zone). I couldn't believe the airbag didn't deploy (but pleased it didn't).
Ah well. All will be made right.

sorry for your (temporary) loss. Make sure you clean the car (every nook and cranny) as good as you can, or your car will ALWAYS smell really bad in that area.
Once upon a time, I ran over some roadkill with a previous car. Ever since then, the car would STINK right around my passengerside rear wheel. I decided to do a major detail months later and removed the wheel and detailed the undercarraiage. It turns out that a chunk of meat came off the roadkill when I ran over it and it stuck to the top of my fenderliner. With all the dirt and debris I drove over, the "meat" turned black and I didnt see it when previously cleaning it. Needless to say, I removed that rotting piece of black meat and got rid of it and teh smell... It was f-ing nasty....
Moral of the story, make sure you clean the HELL out of the area, both exterior crevices and underneath.

Must be the "season"...
We were in my wifes 97 3 series bimmer last Saturday night and had one dart out, do a 180, and then ANOTHER 180 and run into first the front passenger fender, then the passenger front, and passenger rear door...
Fortunately the estimate is only $1180 to repair it and the car is in such good overall condition (and she loves the car) that we'll repair it.
And the f'n deer flopped around in the ditch for about 30 seconds and then jumped up and took off... UGH!!!

Was it a whitetail? I hear those Iowa WT are huge. Sounds like the speed was what helped out with the not so major damage. Sorry to hear, but glad everyones ok.

I don't know what it was
It was a deer!
Where I live, they run in front of us every day. EVERY day. I drive carefully, which is why I reacted fast, but when they jump in that close....

You're actually lucky to be alive. A lot of people get killed every year from the deer flying through the windshield... and even more people from swerving and hitting trees
Glad to hear you're OK
