K24s worth the extra coinage?
The k24/18g is the setup. PM onelove as he has a special on this set-up. I have no connection to him but his set-up is priced right and you have a lot more room to increase power should you choose to. Budget the clutch if you don't now you will be soon. SPEC (board sponsor) has a nice set-up that again has a nice price point.
This really depends on a few of things, where do you want the power? What long terms goals do you have? what do you have currently and lastly, how much money do you have?
I have seen UMW zero clearanced K16's whip some ***- very fast off the line.
I have the UMW 2c ZC'd K24/26's, the K16s will stay with me at launch, but then my power really comes in and I take off however I also have a different fuel system, stage 4 clutch etc...
As a general rule 16's spool quicker, the 24's come in later, of course this also depends on your fuel system etc... a 5bar fpr is ok with stock injectors, with larger injectors you will run into supply problems, you will simply out flow what the fuel pump can provide (not good).
I dont know what level you are at, you need to consider all the ancilliary things like wastegates, clutch etc... but it sounds like a really good set of 16's is what you are looking for at the moment, although I see a set of killer 24s in your future...welcome to club mod.

One thing I'd say is extremely important and seems to be overlooked in your case somewhat, is the tuning of the 16g's. You have said you are going to FVD- NOTHING AGAINST THEM AT ALL, but I am of the belief that, taken in context, the tune itself makes a whole lot more difference than the turbos. I would strongly consider calling Tony if you are doing the 16g and obviously Todd if doing the 24/18.
At the very least, I would look at the 60-130 times and find out who in that group has the 16g's through FVD. We KNOW what Tony has done with them, and you should be sure FVD can get you the same results. If you are saving $500-$1000 on the tune out of a 3-4K total pricetag and do NOT get the most out of it, you oughta ask yourself if you are being penny wise and pound foolish.
I have the Protomotive 24/18's so I have no horse in this race.....just trying to point out that the tune is a HUGE component of the package, and we know what Tony has done with the 16G's.

Ok,
Here's what i've decided to do. I'm picking up a set of K24s this week and i'm going to have them installed on the car while it's already in the shop all next week. I'm going to call FVD and have them send me a new file for the K24s and 5 bar FPR.
I'll drive that around for a while and see how I like it, but I see K24/18Gs in my future.... And all i'll have to do is take these off and send them to Blouch for 18G wheels and wastegates.
(and then get injectors, clutch, and tuning - of course
)
But that way I won't have k16/16gs and be having to sell those and buy a set of k24s for the 18G setup, ya know?
Thanks for the help guys!

Good choice with the K24's. If you're like me, you'll want more power eventually, which is easy to do with the k24's. If you do upgrade to 18g's, I recommend you go with Protomotive or EPL for tuning. They have more experience with the 18g's than anyone, so you can't go wrong there.
Good luck with your new setup!

I've been reading this thread, and it dawned on me that you don't have an exhaust. I HIGHLY recommend you invest in one. With the power you will be pushing with k24's, it's important that you let them breathe. The stock exhaust will choke them in the higher RPM's, which will hurt peak power.
I understand you're not trying to break the bank, so I'm sure you could pick up a decent used exhaust. Better yet, you could grab a 70mm Speedtech from John D. It's proven to make power, and is one of the most reasonably priced exhausts on the market.

Thanks for the tip, you're absolutely right about making this thing breathe. I've already decided to go a similar route to what you're saying, but it'll be a little different.
I'm retaining the stock exhaust system, but i'm deleting the two primary cats and installing dual 4" boost activated-cutouts right there. I'll probably have them set to flip open at .7 bar (~10 psi), so essentially around town it'll be quiet, but if I boost then after .7 bar all the way to 1.2 bar it'll be like me having straight pipes, see what i'm saying?
I think i'm having them fabricated this next week.
I'll post up the results, but I think it should be pretty cool, there are no gains better than those from straight pipes

After I posted, I reread your first post and realized you were going with straight pipes. I edited my post, but it looks like you caught my original before I edited.
Good luck, and try to get some 60-130 numbers!
