Just cracked my windscreen :(

Anyone ever experienced this problem on their GT2?
I've been searching the web in order to get some prices on how much would it cost to replace it... so far, found nothing...

Please let me know if anyone has some info on the cost...

Thanks..

I used a mobile installer so there was no wait time. He came out the next day. I'm not sure if there's a difference between the factory replacement and mine. Mine looks identical to the one that I replaced.

There is factory glass and there is replacement glass...often the replacement glass is pretty darn good (e.g., PPG makes replacement and OEM glass). The factory glass has the etching lower driver side. I wanted to make sure I used factory glas as it is so integral to the structural stability of a cab. Part of the cost of the glass is the rain sensor. I paid $558 for factory glass from Porsche.

Mine is badly pitted from track day use... Really want to "catch" a rock and make a claim to get it replaced!

OP appears to be in Indonesia.

It will be interesting to see if they have mobile GT2 windshield installers there... or if they even have aftermarket glass!

Any guess on cost for glass shipped from Germany?

I believe some of the surface stuff can be polished. You might want to do a search on that.

I had a not so good experience with having some minor pits polished off a windshield. I would definitely replace and use PPG or similar glass if it's available. On my 07 4Runner beater, I was very reluctant to use non OEM glass and not use a Toyota shop, but it was a wise choice on my part. Make sure the tech is experienced and takes time doing the seal and cleaning out the old. I drove around beforehand for almost a yr with a badly cracked windshield because I was afraid of a leaky seal and windnoise. Inspection time finally forced my decision. I've had NO issues and I'm super picky. Make sure and leave the tape over the windshield/no high pressure washing/no high speed driving/cracked windows when opening and closing doors for a few days afterwards. Going to a dealer and using OEM glass would have been a complete waste from my experience. I would never claim this on my insurance either. It's too affordable to give them ammo to use against you to raise your rates down the road.

Since you're in Indonesia... good luck with that.

Same as WROSS...just had mine replaced due to rock chip causing travelling crack. The whole thing came to about $600 thru AAA covered by comprehensive. Make sure you have either the factory windshield or an appropriate OEM one that has the rain sensor and the auto dimming feature in it for your rear view mirror as well as the green or blue tint at the top. They don't all include those sensors.
