I think it's fair to say that K16's run out of steam at around 5K or so. Search for dyno sheets and look at the curves, not the numbers. You've heard the term "under the curve"? If you want to hotrod around town, K16's or 16G's are simply awesome and inexpensive. If you want to blaze the highways, you will likely be happier with K24's or 18g's. You won't sacrifice much with the bigger turbo. IMO, the turbo "lag" is negligable. It might spool a couple hundred RPM later, if that.

I speak from experience too as I have gone from stock K16's, to flashed K16's to 18G's.
Well Said
k16/16g will never out run a k24/18g on the highway.

After all my research, i plan on doing the k16/16g
I just want a little more power to to hang with the big boys, I dont really need to pass them.

These new small turbos seem the way to go save Texas mile kinds of things. On track, they are probably superior....

16g or the new gt2 turbine options out there peak my interest quite a bit. Key will be the code...

I could not use full power for much time at VIR...and lag/spool up in a racing situation and/or track to me is more important than pure power....and price. I don't want to find myself rebuilding my motor, so I want the most fun that is safely within the stock engine.....

The work being done now with new turbo wheels is pretty neat.

Just to remember that "slower moving" air delivers MORE pressure than fast moving air and as such, a larger compressor delivers MORE air per unit of BAR and of course, at a lower intake temperature since the compressors arent working as hard. Going "up" a little bit in compressor size you get the Bernouli Principal and an effect that ultimately delivers more power. You can always do the 24/18g combination and leave the boost controller alone vs the 16G with the GT2 wheels. Nice thing about the larger compressor is that you have the OPTION of going for big power from time to time assuming access to GREAT fuel. Got Injectors?

Steve as I recall you dynoed your car in the dead of the summer heat without the proper amount of cooling fans on your car to begin with. A 16G dyno @ 30 degrees has a impressive outcome just like a like setup 18G would be impressive @ 30 degrees. Dude one thing you need is injectors for sure. My opinion is if your gonna do 18G's you gotta do injectors hands down. Go see Tony and have him do injectors and a 30 degree dyno. From there you could over write your tune with his custom dyno tune. I love his 16G setup I have on my car but its impossible to get him down here to fine tune-custom dyno tune my car. I have been waiting since June and still waiting!!!! You live close enough to EPL to drive sooooooo drive!
