If you like you can do it yourself. I did mine and they came out great. I used the dupli color primer, dupli color high temp paint and a clear coated it. Some people have theirs powder coated.

+1 :lurk: Curious because my red calipers are peeling and fading--It hurts to have a beautiful car with crapped-up calipers...kind of like wearing an Armani suit with flip flops

I used the brush that came in the caliper paint kit on my first caliper. But it didn't come out smooth. So after it dried I sanded it off. I used several spray cans of brake cleaner to remove grease and oil. Then I bought the high temp primer and spray paint and painted away. I got the Porsche stickers from a shop in Monterey Park California named Fast Forward Performance. I put the stickers on and clear coated over them. I did one wheel at a time it took about 5 hours because I kept admiring my work.

Remove wheel
mask and tape everything up
sand and clean your calipers
prime
Paint
stickers
clear coat
It's a simple job and makes a world of difference. I'll post pics when I get home tonight. Do a search for caliper painting. Someone on this site did a great DIY. My calipers were faded and peeling also. Believe me, it's not a difficult job.

i would recommend it. it looks good when they are freshly painted and new looking. i had a friend custom paint mine to a hot pink color and he painted the "porsche" emblem on. he did a really, really good job and they've held out through all kinds of autox, bad weather, sand on the road, etc. he did the primer first as well and it took him awhile to prep them prior to the primer. they were in bad shape but now they are great!

good luck!

I've seen pics of your pink calipers...I don't think I'd get the same street cred as you if I went that route

Onetime....thanks for the info.
Is that regular Dulicolor High Heat (DE 1653 Red)?
I'm color blind but it looks similer to Porsche caliper red.
Clear would be DE1636
TIA

I checked the can and it is Duplic-Color High Temperature Caliper Paint. The caliper paint only comes in one shade of red. Sorry, I wasn't clear in my posts. I didn't see a color number on the can.

They look awesome Question...how did you paint the rear of the caliper (the part toward the middle of the car, on the other side of the rotor)? Or did you just worry about the parts that were visible and accessible? I can see a weekend project coming up!

Just tape everything up as best you can. The part of the caliper that faces the inside of the car is not visible so I didnt paint it. Any part of the caliper that can be seen was painted. Out of sight, out of mind. If you take the calipers off you can paint it in its entirety.

I did my calipers on my 99 C2 just like this, and they have held up fine for 3 years (looked better than stock, as well). I got the best results using 800 grit sandpaper over the entire surface of the caliper. Scott.
