New Viscous Centre Diff

Just replaced my Viscous centre diff in my 65000 km old Turbo.
Wow! What a difference.

I think I have been driving around a GT2. I think there are probably a few more punters out there with the same issue - gradually worn out centre diffs!!

Not as expensive as I thought ($1800AUS)

Can you explain more about the difference?

Coming off 2nd gear tight corners I can feel the front wheels pulling the car around under hard acceleration, whereas before I was readying myself for countersteering as the rear started to break.

I can actually feel a little bit of torque steer under hard acceleration.
It is definitely hauling quicker out of tight corners - but not that noticeable in the faster stuff.

Melbourne.

While i'm here - does anyone have any knowledge on Viscos diffs and different oil viscosities to alter the front/rear bias.

Can we do better than 70:30 (standard?) front to rear drive by changing oil weight??

The only thing I noticed that people know on this forum as far as the Viscos Diff is how to do an oil change on one and how to take them out and save 50lbs.

It's interesting the fixation people have with weight (being the enemy of speed of course) when I have actually found that I have done my fastest hillclimb/tarmac race times with a full tank of juice. (and more so in the wet)
Put it down to more front end grip for the fwd I guess!

I believe weight distribution is equally as important. (see - I'm happy to use this fat guy instead of this guy)

I believe the best is 40/60 front to rear.
