I'm not a fan of the gray interiors, however I keep seeing otherwise nice 996TTs for sale that seem to not be selling due to the gray interior. How much of a pain would it be to change the interior. Since it would be from Gray --> Black, some things could stay gray (ie, it's not like I was going from Cinnamon --> Black). Maybe leave the pillars and roof Gray, but change out the Dash, Seats, Carpet, Door panels, Middle console, steering wheel, shifter boot.
Anyone know of a car becoming a race car and gutting a black interior?
It's just a thought. I've previously removed some interior parts, so it's not completely new to me - here's from my Audi A4 (installing audio system) - however I've never taken a full dash out before.

This has been addressed several times and the consensus is that for a Porsche it is way too expensive. But based upon your skill level you might be able to do it for a reasonable price. I don't know whether anyone actually priced it out though. I recommend you wait and get the car you want. There are ton of them out there, just be patient.

Agree with you - I hate grey interior on the 996tt - somehow it looks very cheap. I wonder if there is a way to help by changing just the major parts (eg seats, steering wheel, etc) and get a "decent" two tone interior.

I say just wait for the right car to come along as well. I, too, don't like the grey. I passed on a lot of cars for that fact alone. Be patient and you will find one that strikes your fancy, I did!
PS - fast car you have there
I know how fast Dave's car is, so that says a lot
Thanks ttboost. Could you tell me what color code your hood sticker says. I saw the video of you/Michael/Dave(S4) and we realized Michael's car isn't Seal. I think yours is, but I'd like to confirm what the sticker says. Thank you!

My car is Seal Gray. I think they made a Slate Gray which is a little darker than my Seal gray and that's what I think Michael has. I never was a huge fan of the Seal gray, but it's grown on me and it NEVER looks dirty, within reason!
Video 3 and video 4 are the representative videos from that batch. Mike had no traction on run 1 (so I lifted) and I shifted from 3rd to 6th on the second run due to the crap stock shifter (problem now solved with a new 997 shifter). On 3 and 4 I get the early lead due to my quick spool, but Mike's car reels me in and walks another 2 car lengths by the end of 4th.
Mark and I confirmed this morning. My car is Slate Grey. Looks like I need to change my screen name. I asked the dealer if the car was Slate Grey when I bought it and he said it was Seal.
