Any problems running stock axles/tranny with 800+rwhp

Has there been any documented cases of broken tranny or axles on 996tt's pushing 800+rwhp on stock axles/tranny. From roll ons or off the line take offs. Please share your suggestions here. thanks art

Yes. I've broken three half shafts. EVOMS has several upgrades that you should consider.

rbb1991 is infamous around these parts
Stock trannys and shaft cannot handle THAT much power. I believe in the 550-600+ range, you will need to upgrade those components.

Like Sharkey says,

It depends what you do with the car (how it is driven).

It alot of situations, they might be OK

How about just roll ons from 2nd or 3rd gears. Would the axles break under these conditions?

Once you're rolling I highly doubt at those speeds you'd break the axles... It's usually the off-the-line stuff or aggressive 1st to 2nd gear shifts that do the breaking..

Should be less stressful for sure. Launches eat them up pretty good though.

I wouldn't risk it. Get the Axles from Sharkey. I ran the same ones on my car and never had a problem.

Thanks again for sharing all the experiences. In your opinion, is 996tt stock axle better than 993tt stock axle? Meaning would it sustain a lot more pressure than 993tt model.

You should be fine rolling, if your going to launch the car you'll probably want to upgrade your differential with a Guard unit and check out your syncros and ring and pinnion while you're in there, and get a nice set of axles as well. We just got done with these upgrades this week, figured it'd be better to take the proactive approach. Driveshaft Shop makes a great set of axles for the 996tt, they do require a bit of clearance to fit, but compared to stock they're much larger and made of better materials than the OEM units.
