Time to add some power......Beta Test New EPL Turbo Solution
Jamie,
I know you are obsessed w/ me but strangely are misinformed. I am probably going to run the Brockway. However the decision over my injectors will be more influenced by Todd than the rest of this board. Todd and I have been e-mailing over the matter.
I do sometimes mix Sunoco 114 leaded w/ pump and run my car at 1.2-1.3 bars. The only prob w/ the Sunoco (vs C 16) is the specific gravity, but if mixed w/ a mojority of pump and reasonable boost levels, the car runs great. That combo is also cleared by my cars tuner.

The fact that you had to recently email Todd because of what others are saying proves my point. Did you ask Todd what duty cycle he targets and why when he first tuned your car?
Don't insult Todd by running back to him to question his fueling system. The fact that you haven't blown your car up by now with all the stupid **** you do is a testament to Todd and the ME7.1.
If I were in this business, I'd make D. Buschur look like he had the patience of a saint.....
Actually oddly enough, the only thing flashing right now are the additional reputation points I've received over last few days from a number of others thinking the same thing I've been posting.
But I'm starting to feel like I'm picking on the class midget, so I'm sorry and will leave you alone.

How ironic...I too have gotten lots of rep points thanks to you...here are some of the comments: "This Jamie person really comes off very lame. It seems he has it out for you and it makes him look like a fool. What is his problem?"; "Funny ****..."; "CLASSIC HIT
" (a response to the song, Jamies' Got a Crush) ; "I'm rolling Jamie has to be in a fit of rage at this point!!!"; "awesome"; "Funny as hell"
Edit: Here is another:"Why do you waste your time on that ****** bag?"

So you see, Miss Jamie, I am flattered, because I know:
You always hurt the one you love
The one you shouldn't hurt at all
You wish you had a GT2
And drove it till the turbos fall
You always break the kindest heart
With a hasty word you can't recall
So-o if I broke your heart last week
Its because your minds'* so small.
*and everything else about you

Just some information about the 914 rwhp Proto car shown in dyno graph:
-That dyno graph is of my best friend Peter's car. He is indeed running 60 lb injectors.
-It's a fully built 3.8l car, with Mckenzie heads, similar cams to what I had, GT3 cam synchs and GT35rs. It should and does make more power than my car did.
-We will be getting 60-130 times for it soon after I return home. Also some vids of it against my blown Z06.
-Dynos don't matter in the real world. Performance results (such as 60-130, 1/4 mile trap, standing mile, etc..) do.
-I ran the Siemens 60 lb injectors on my car with the GT30s and then switched to the 72 lb Bosch when I went with 35rs. She ran much better with the Bosch's than she did with the Siemens. Regardless of the extra flow, they simply seem to be better quality injectors.

fuel makes a GREAT difference when making power
pump fuel will see anywhere from 9.5 to 10 hp per lb/air where as the real nasty stuff like VP import and E85 can see as much as 12hp per lb/air or more
say a system is flowing 66lb/min with pump fuel, figure you are getting 10hp per lb of air so a 66lb/min car is pumping out 660hp
now take that same car, on VP import: 66lb/min * 12 = 792hp!!

Interesting injector discussion with some merits to both sides. Given a choice I like reasonable fuel pressures and injectors sized to match with at least some nod to the manufacturers suggestion of usage environment. Big injectors flow badly at very short pulse widths, I've dealt with this. The hysteresis of telling them to shut down before they can hardly move leads to poor and uneven fueling at idle and part throttle - hence the rumors about drivability. Bumping idle speed or idling richer are one way this is patched, lowering fuel pressure to bump duty works if you have the means. How the injectors are driven can make a huge difference in response, I'd love to know more about the Porsche ECU in this respect - not all P/H drivers are driving the same I'm told. Higher pressure does promote atomization and OEMs are going to it for good reason using parts designed for this duty but to pull out a car with tailored fuel and way above average mods to both engine and fuel system to say that small injectors are "okay" seems a bit extreme. 99% of the target audience won't be running something even close to those changes, changes not revealed in the initial posting - it's an edge example. Impressive display of making it work I will agree but finding the edge indeed, a place many prefer not to step too closely. "There is no need for larger injectors at his power level" Pigs could be made to fly too but it's not ever going to be normal occurrence. That post was a trap to get exactly the reaction received and information was withheld in order to facilate that reaction before completing the picture of what was going on. Average Joes do not play games with fuel gravity when building a street driven car. Sadly that post derailed a pretty interesting thread.
Do you fart in crowded elevators too?
Anyway, this thread started out with some fascinating discussion about a new turbo coming online with custom mods to bolt up to these cars and moved off course. Any dynos on these turbos since the original posting? Perhaps with a comparison of other turbos on the same car and dyno please? Any chance boost pressure could be logged and charted too? Pretty please?
Big bonus points if you log backpressure in the header before the turbo
P.S. FWIW when I read the power level and 60lb injectors my reaction was exactly the same - go bigger. Oh and consider a W/B! I'm conservative... <shrug>
hey guys.....quick update for you....
Car is all together with the turbos installed. As you might have seen in other threads I installed a Spec 3+ clutch with the aasco lightweight flywheel and need to break it in before I add fueling and more power. So far just added a 5bar.
I drove the car down to VIR from NYC area (~500 miles) for a 2 day event. Car ran great the entire way down there on the track and back home. I had a minor suspension issue that I was able to fix before heading home, but obviously thats unrelated to this post.
So far I'm VERY impressed with these turbos and I'm anxious to get the injectors installed and have Tony tune it!!

not fair, but it is what it is
