Low boost due to computer

Car is set up to run 1.1-1.2 bar but computer apparently is keeping boost to 0.8 . Car just came from the mechanic and there were no boost leaks, diverters checked out and finally he did a hard boot on the computer and car runs fine. prior to this there were no codes or cels. The mechanic says the computer is keping the boost low. Its an older fvd stage 2 ecu. I had been running 0.9 bar for a year prior to changing the wastegates to 1.2 bar gates. Any ideas?

I did find a post saying the computer may be going into limp or low boost mode because the boost may be reaching 1.3bar even if the dash doesn't show it. I know it didn't happen until the new wastegates were installed. Is there a different program from fvd that could help? should I install a 5 bar fpr to keep the computer happy?

hmmm:
1. What device was used to read codes?
2. Have you checked the wastegates? I don't know what you mean by "1.2 bar gates". You can get gates with stronger springs, but they must be set-up (with the ECU program) properly to work.
3. What is a "hard boot" of the computer? You mean he disconnected the battery or removed the ECU?
4. Is the FVD program still installed? What turbos do you have?

You can have a throttle body shut-down at about 1.35...on K16s. This will throw codes though. It is possible the fuel is being starved, but that would not explain "recently it doesn't boost to 1.2"....

The codes were read with a bosch porsche laptop;
the wastegates were purchased from a forum member and have 1.2 bar springs and functional; the fvd program is not the newer softronic variety;
yes he disconnected the batery to reset the ecu, the turbo's are k16s

The boost reliably reached 1.1 and I'm ok with that but at 0.8 you could feel the car was being held back but with no codes to point to the source of the prblem.

10psi? Thats stock boost? What if you are running more? You should ALWAYS test with around 30psi...

Agree, have you adjusted the wastegates? You are saying that after installing new wastegates the boost dropped to .8 and after these other tests it still is at .8, right? Who installed the wastegates? Were they calibrated to open at the proper pressure, and at the same time?

I don't know that much, but I do listen to CLICK AND CLACK , the tappet brothers

The wastegates open at 12 psi; the car was holding 1.2 bar for about two weeks; and the mechanic said he did try the leak test as high as 20 psi which is over 1.2 bar without a leak.. its the computer that is f--ing the boost up. the question is why without codes or cels?

The gas is 93 octane and freshly pumped in case that question comes up.

Maybe talk to your tuner about this. Are you flashed or did they change the chip?
