NISSAN Runs a 7:27.5 in 2010 GTR at the Ring
This thread has provided a bunch of entertainment and I know most of you guys have been tongue in cheek about your posts. Regarding the downplaying of the F1 drivers, though, I can say that anyone who has driven an F1 car around a track, whether in first or last place, has my respect. These cars are very difficult to drive and even harder to drive fast. Whether it's Suzuki, Sutil, or Hamilton, all of these guys are super skilled drivers. A good example is the big shakeup the new rules have provided. Last year most people would have put J. Button in the same category as Suzuki as a perennial loser who couldn't hack Formula 1. This year he gets a strong car, wins the first two races, and comes in third last weekend.
Here's another example. If you were watching the race in China you saw the rally champ from Bahrain destroy an 08 F1 Renault. Although there's some conjecture whether there was a malfunction somewhere, it looks like the guy just lost it, and he's clearly a very accomplished race driver. IMO, it's easier to find a good F-16 pilot than a someone who can even keep an F1 car on the pavement.

JB has skill and raced with excellent drivers in his junior years. Suzuki raced with no name Japanese drivers, the only reason he even made it into F1 was because he had some cashed up Japanese backers and an F1 team desperate for $$$$$. He was promply booted out after two less than stellar races.
There is a huge difference between a bad driver on a bad car and a good driver on a bad car. Suzuki is the former, Mark Webber is the latter.
If Nissan really wanted to prove to us this car is no ringer, wouldn't it be easy enough to provide a means of weighing the car (or do they already have scales at the track?), and then provide GPS data as the car circles the track (or allow independents to set up their own means of collecting GPS data), then knowing weight and acceleration couldn't one easily calculate horsepower figures and whatever other data might be helpful? And, does what I just said make any damn sense whatsoever?
Changes in boost levels or transmission and ECU changes can have a dramatic effect. All these changes are under the skin and doesnt affect the weight of the car. For a company with a dodgy Nurburgring history like Nissan they must buy a showroom car and tested on the track as they come (independently followed and verified).
hey, i was content on letting that fact drop. check the times of the posting of the threads. the person who posted this thread had more than an hour to use the search function, and failed to. which resulted in two threads. i can't stop somebody from not searching and posting a thread in the wrong forum after the original thread was already created in the appropriate environment.
so who did the repost?
you're pretty smart, i'll let you figure it out.

Did you berate that person when he started another thread with the same topic (like you did with me)? or did you secretly rejoice being a Nissan fan and all that? I dont want to see 5 similar topics talking about the same stuff, this has happened before on this forum with the GTR.

I don't know about you guys, but lying is a way of life, and here is Mizuno himself lying straight through his teeth saying that there never was any launch control. Even the GT-R boys say he's a liar. And someone who will lie so blatantly about a feature they showed people how to use and then tried to void warranties over is supposed to be trusted when it comes to manufacturer claimed lap times. Especially when those lap times cannot be duplicated by any independent source? And the video clearly shows a car with more hp than claimed?? And they've been caught lying before??? On multiple occasions?
You've got to be kidding me.

and i'll let it go again, until you bring it up, again, needlessly.
i try to stay on topic. unless prompted by specific questions.

there is no difference between your position about that - and the white house's official statement about whether or not obama bowed to the saudi king. i don't want to get into a political discussion off topic, but using your position about mizuno, one could say about the white house "i'll never believe anything they say from now on because the white house said he didn't bow."
at some point, you have to separate the legal position, and the performance of a car going around the track.

I think Manaro might have a point there. My understanding is that electronic boost guages can be manipulated through the ECU to show whatever boost pressures you want. If that is the case, Nissan could theoretically add more boost without anyone really knowing?
in that case - run 1/4 with the throttle gauge on the mfd (to prevent sand bagging).
the throttle gauge calibration is easily verified with the vehicle not even moving.
(my instructors like that feature, so they can tell when i'm lifting a certain percent)

When it comes it it why not go the whole hog and add in a boost controller with 2 maps one for setting fast times and one for showing stock hp.
What makes all you experts so sure they fudged the boost/horsepower and not suspension? Surely if they were going to cheat they would have put a more circuit orientated suspension in the car, horsepower is only one part of the equation.
For mine after having driven, on a circuit, the new GTR is a much much better thing than a standard 996TT, better sorted, more power, easier to drive. I've raced GTR's and Porsche Cup cars, ten years ago admittedly, but I still think I have some idea of how to turn a car. You armchair experts should go and try one, especially the guy who owns the Monaro, it should scare the frigging pants of you!!

although i agree with your perception of mizuno's statement when he said there never was a feature called launch control, you are taking a political approach in the car arena.

The same is not to be expected from a car manufacturer when it's a blatant lie and everyone knows it already. At least a politician will lie up until their caught (Bill Clinton) and then come clean.
If your expectations of your car makers integrity is that to equal a politician, your standards are alarmingly low. And the constant diversions and miscellaneous extractions and excuses are getting old.
- Yeah everything suggests it but can you say for sure?
- It appears that way but Can you prove it?
- He lied but........
Since you'll accept any bs Nissan spews out, and will make excuses when they are clearly lying, what's the point in responding? They can tell you straight up they lied about the hp on the ring car and you'd be making excuses. They lie, and everyone knows it now, for sure, without a doubt.
but now there is an acceleration feature that is always on. no need for button pushing. just brake, gas, release brake.
