Problem with B&M Short Shifter Install

The unit does not fit in a 2004.

The horizontal ball joint is machined about 50% larger than the plastic clip that attaches to it and then goes into another white plastic part.

Did I get the wrong part? Is there another part for 2004? What do I do? Can I just get the white part from a 2003 and attach it to the shifter box?

Guys,

I know some must have a fix for this problem. It can't be that nobody has put a B & M into a 2004.

The square plastic thing on the oem shift is not removed and put on the B&M. The ball on the B&M is what takes it's place.

That is great news. You are the man! I'll finish the job right now.

Got it all together now.

The B&M instructions don't say anything about marking the position of the shifter cables before taking them out.

I think those are pretty poor instructions. You have to try different cable positions to get into all gears, reverse and first in particular.

Have put in a few dozen B&M/Porsche units. I do not follow the B&M instructions. That is why our local group filmed 4 installs and made a DVD. Years ago I thought about contacting B&M so they could note in their instructions to mark the cable locations. If you follow the Porsche instructions then you do not disconnect the cables from the blue and black connectors, so there is no need to mark their location.
