Hmmm. I tried my "experiment" without the external antenna. I just put the box on my dash suction cup side down "upside down" and it worked?

I actually drove around yesterday to make sure it will record "upside down" and it does. I cannot stick it on my windscreen as it blocks my tach, so I am going to stick the suction cups on the front of my gas tank.

Have you tried it on the tank at high speed when you are "on the tank"?
You may block some of the satellite signals---it gets info from several satellites simultaneously to calculate its data. May need to mount it somewhere behind you. Ah, the many uses for duct tape.

That was my fallback solution if my "leaning over" blocks it. Tape it to the tail section "trunk" cover.
