Whats the limit of the TIP?
Unless you know the history of the Transmission, you never know what abuse it has lived through. Evoms may have put their upgraded TC's in newer low mileage cars?
I do agree that if the prior owner had a high hp setup without upgraded tq conv then the transmission could be hosed.

They are DESIGNED to slip!!! Clutch dumping, hard shifting and mis-shifting is USUALLY harder on all the OTHER parts, not usually the tranny.
I really dont know much about auto transmission, that's why i asked. But mis shifting and hardshifting is definitely bad for the 6 speed transmission not just the drivetrain. I know some people who had tranny's replaced due to tracking and syncros worn due to hard shifting.

I am just trying to help the OP who is local to me, i have the same opinion as others ...i personally would not buy a tip, even if i did for some reason would not mod the hell out of it.if he decides to buy one , just like dr.j said be ready for a 10k bill.

It seems like the OP was told by Evoms that they have several high hp cars running fine with their TQ convertors ..what's up with EVOMS being so sure about tip's capability..
Also in the case of blackhorseturbo tranny failure maybe the issues could have been prevented if he had the TQ convertor before it started slipping under high hp?

Good luck. That's my understanding after discussing with Evoms and several others. Lack of stronger TQ Conv in high hp applications will propogate failure to other components. I am sorry cannot give a technical explaination...but that's what i was told.
My biggest hurdle right now is just finding a tranny. There are none in the US. We've had to contact Germany.
Are you looking for 996 +997 trannys? or will only a 996 work?
Mike, I'm looking for a 996. I haven't heard that a 997 tip will work. I started a new thread looking for a tranny. Wish me luck.
