Whats the limit of the TIP?

So I am in the market for a tiptronic 996tt. However, I got into a discussion with two of my peers whom both have manual transmissions. They feel that if I was to go out and buy a Tial GT3071 turbos, injectors, meth kit,EPL tune, and Evoms TC that the tranny will more than likely still fail. According to my friend he says the most powerful tiptronic car is at 520whp. So my question is, does anyone know of any 600+whp tips?

The second debate is about the turbos themselves, they are recommending K24/18g turbos over the Tial, any thoughts?

Thanks.

Vince

Worst case, also do the upgraded torque converter, should be good till 900hp crank?

I'd also love to hear what people think of K24/18g vs GT3071. Especially for people like me who doesnt want to commit a big chunk of cash on a fuel system upgraded at the moment. How would a K24/18g with 5bar FPR compare against a GT3071 with 5bar FPR?

Ask User "craig" he no longer owns the car, but had a very high HP turbo a few years ago and still surfaces here sometimes.

I have heard that the TT tip is the same unit as a BMZ x600 and X65 AMG cars. Those cars were limited to 750 ft/lb of torque for trans longevity. This is unconfirmed.

Where are you getting your pricing info from? Interpolation from a manual rebuild?

My goal is around 550-600whp, is this power level reliable with an upgraded torque converter?

It also seems that most of you would recommend the K24/18g.

I just replaced my TC with the rebuilt EVOMS unit. Unfortunately, it looks as if my tranny is toast. Third gear especially. I can drive around town just fine under 4K rpm. But what fun is that? I have a dyno run of 550 RWHP on 1.35 BAR. I just upgraded my intercoolers so I haven't re-dynoed. At 1.45 bar were estimating 585 rwhp. I don't know if the tranny was having issues before I bought it 1 year ago, but it was stock. After I replace my tranny, I'm not sure if I will want to run high boost anymore.

But I have been told the tip should hold 600-650 whp no problem. Looks like mine couldn't hold 550 whp. Talk to user Ken too, he replaced his tranny and TC as well.

Sean was referring to me. See my post above. We don't exactly know what is bad until we break it down.
