PSM noise

Guys,
Did a search on this and didn't find much. Second day of my track session last weekend, I started getting this very short high pitched whine sound on start up. Wouldn't happen more than at start up and no performance issues at all. Car ran great.

Since then, that sound pretty much happens right after start up each time. Only lasts a second or two then gone. So I thought it would be hard to trouble shoot.

But today I was out driving and took a hard turn. Triggered PSM and low and behold, the whining sound- a couple of times in a row. Tried another hard turn and same thing- PSM triggered and got the whine.

Any thoughts out there? PSM is functioning as far as I can tell. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks,
Scott

It's probably your clutch accumulator. High pitched whine that goes away when you depress the clutch. Eventually the clutch pedal will start feeling hard. Common issue, low $$$ fix.

Hmm, I don't know. It isn't associated with depressing the clutch at all. Start the car in neutral and after a few seconds it just happens.

While driving today, what triggered it and directed me to the culprit was taking a hard turn. I was in gear and on the power in the turn which is what caused the triangle with the ! and the whine. So, do you still think it could be related to the clutch?

Sounds like the power steering pump sound. Do a search on that. There was a lot of discussion on it but not recently.

I had that sound for awhile. I went to the track, ran it for a session, came off the track, it was worse than before, put in the clutch and it went away and has never come back. Go figure.

A friend of mine who has worked on cars for years and years, including Porsches, drove my car and from feeling the clutch, told me I will have the clutch accumulator and slave problem eventually. I don't notice anything myself, but he had the problem in his turbo so probably is more sensitive to it than me.
