Talking AEM Methanol Install & 24/18G dyno results

Hey guys, a number of you have wanted to know how the meth worked out on my car so I thought I would post up some pics and my dyno results. I installed an AEM methanol kit and the car was re-flashed by Tony @ EPL. The results are fantastic! We ended up using a 75/25 meth mix. The car now drives like it has race fuel in it all the time! With the progressive controller the boost comes in smooth and is not abrupt at all, and spool up is unaffected (see dyno chart). Not bad gains for $350 in parts Thanks Tony and Jason at Addict Motorsports for the great tune!

The kit was very easy to install and features a fail safe if the pump were ever malfunction, low fluid is detected, or the nozzles clog. I hooked up a relay to interupt the boost solenoid so if a problem were to occur the boost would automatically be cut back to factory boost.

Pump mounted were the spare tire normally resides:

6 Quart Tank (upgraded from the small 4 quart AEM tank) ($10 at usplastic.com) with brackets made from AMD:

Dual 500cc jets installed into the Y-pipe:

Running the wires in the center console:

Progressive Methanol Controller mounted in the center console (features boost-dependent variable flow with a start point and a full spray point):

Feel free to PM me if you guys have any questions!

Same dyno, different day. I dont have the intake temps on hand but maybe Tony or Jason can post them? AFR is plotted on the chart along with hp/trq #s.

Can't see the #s, my eyes are probably going bad. Can you just put the #s in the beginning of the thread, this will help all audiences capture the big picture bro. Very nice set up BTW, good work.

Looks like an increase from 509 to 546 tq, and 494 to 521 hp. Correct?

Nice pics of install.

How much of an increase would you see with MS109 and Meth? That will be an interesting data logging.

Don,

How long did the install take?

Is the controller required often for adjustments or do you "set it and forget it" once dialed in?

Very nice increase Don and very nice install too!!! 30-40 hp increase seems to be the norm for these cars on Meth.

Oh yeah, John where is that 60-130? Call me if you need a P-box.

It is pretty simple to install. Mount the pump and run a power wire to it from the battery. Then mount the controller in the center console and run a 12V, 12V turn-on, and ground to it. You will run 3 wires to the bonnet area (2 to the low fluid sensor and 1 to the pump ground). Then you will take 1 wire to the relay mounted next to the ECU to cut the power to the boost solenoid. Then you will just run the line from the pump under the car to the rear. You then install a splitter in the line and the jets in the Y-pipe (remove Y-pipe from the car). I would say 4-6 hours total. The lines are 1/4" tubing and all of the fittings are simple push in.

The controller is just like Ron Popeil would say "set it and forget it."'

I will try and get some 60-130's as soon as I find a meter to borrow from someone.

Art, I have never done a dedicated 60-130 run and I don't have any plans at this time, as I do not have a box.

However, TT has graciously offered use of a P box, so I will contact him and set something up. Thanks, TT!
