2. You want an Europipe Stage 2 QUIET. Stock like sound, but some of the largest gains in HP (0.15bar is the backpressure versus 0.3 I think for stock)
Well, if you disagree with me.. you disagree with the Factorhttp://images.ibsrv.net/y
My info is from: The Porsche 995tt/GT2 Factory Service Manual and my own observations. I have the manual set sitting nearby. It states that the GT2 and the X50 use the same exhaust. They are both setup to take advantage of the K24s and slightly advanced boost, etc [and I have seen nothing to indicate that the GT2/X50 aren't the same specification].
I have examples of both the GT2 and the X50 exhausts sitting at my house and they are identical.
I am sure there are better and sweeter exhausts but the poster was asking about returning to STOCK exhaust. These supposedly provide about 6 hp over the stock 996tt exhaust and are slightly louder.
I have seen more than one thing published from the Factory that was not technically correct. BUT seeing both exhausts and looking at the part numbers seals the deal for me.
That's all folks

TMK, A is right...X50 and stock TT are the same...GT2 with just a bit less "stuffing"...Probably can not tell by looking at the exhaust as it is the insides that differ slightly. I don't know what a 995TT service manual is, but I have the 996TT and the GT2 service manuals (the add on pages for the GT2 that is). I see no reference to the exhaust in those manuals. I do have the parts list and the GT2 is a different PN than the stock/X50 exhaust.
Check the part number in the current Porsche PET:
Here is the part for a GT2 exhaust (02 and later):
996.111.987.72
Part number for all other turbos, as well as X50:
996.111.027.75
Anyway, then I guess I have one of those "High Flowing GT2/X50 exhausts" for sale (left over from when I replaced it with an EP2L). Here I thought it was just a boat anchor!

PS They'll look the same, but embossed part number should be different on the GT2 vs X50. Post up your part numbers- always good to 'correct the record' so to speak.

Source for this?
Any numbers on backpressure om the GT2 exhaust?
(Man that wross is fast....
)

PS I've heard- this is either from Kevin at UMW or Stef at Europipe as I recall- that the GT2 muffler deletes one single internal baffle to change the sound and flow...

How much louder is the GT2 exhaust over stock X50? My car is louder than I'd like, and I think I may have the GT2 exhaust. Does it drone a bit between 2.5-3K RPM? I need to crawl back under the car to get the part number again as the picture I took is a bit grainy. (Anyone have better eyes than me?)
2. I don't think I've EVER read that someone finds the stock exhaust- GT2, X50, whatever- too loud. Has yours been modified by the 'drill out the interior' method?? Has anyone else (996TT owner) listened to it?
A
That's been my understanding, too, which is why I'm kind of puzzled. The car has a drone, which made me believe the exhaust was aftermarket, but then I looked at the stampings on the bottom and it looks OEM to me. I need to get out to a local event so I can hear another X50's exhaust. Most people have described the factory exhaust as quiet. Mine is certainly not quiet, aftermarket or not.
do you know anyone selling one?
I had no idea that the k16 and k24 cars had different exhausts. Do you know that for a fact?
EDIT: whoops... whould ahve read the entire thread before I posted
Btw, I have a turbo and gt2 here with stock exhaust and can start both of them to see which is louder if that helps...Mileage on the two cars is different though.
