Initial cost estimate for replacing some of the damaged items which is mostly the underbody covers, fender liners and front lip: $900
There is also damage to the trunk floor where it was pushed up - not part of the repair estimate.
Some of the cooling pipes were pulled from the transmission as well - there was no charge for re-securing these.
I found the item I hit and put it in the tire bag for evidence - My indy mechanic said "After seeing what you hit, I have concluded you are extremely lucky."
He said the mass of metal was part of the bus's engine block and oil filter
