E60 M5 actual performance test results

I know most don't care for the styling, but the acceleration is impressive:

0-100km/h: 4.4
0-160km/h: 9.3
0-200km/h: 13.9

To compare:

E55
0-100: 4.6
0-160: 9.8
0-200: 14.6

996TT
0-100: 4.2
0-160: 9.4
0-200: 14.6

Quite reasonable for the hugh jump in the price from the E39 model. I like the styling of the E60 but as everyone said, it's not that good to buy a first year model car..

that is crazy if it in fact is that fast. but i have a feeling for some reason those results are biased not by you but by the magazines or testers? like taking some of the slower tests of the other cars and the best of the new M5 to further sales and create hype? i dunno i wish it was really that fast but i am skeptical. if it is the fast that is incredible. well we know it sounds nice but the styling some aren't too keen on. i am worried about the engine though, even though it sounds like an engineering marvel: i love the high-revving V10 with ITB's that's been said to have been tested up to 10,000rpm safely, but a 12:1 compression on 91 pump gas, plus the history of the M3 has me a little worried. how about just lease one and get an exhaust, wheels, and suspension, then take it out when it's time to return it!

It's a V10 with 507HP handicapped by a heavy chassis. The numbers look legit to me.

No,
the new AMG engine is a big 6.3 V8, twin cam, 4 valves per cylinder, and DI....quiet similar technology use on the new 3.5 V6...that we can see on the 2005 SLK 350.

That new 6.3 V8 will have more that 500 hp...some people has said close to 600 but will not much the 517 ft/lb tp of the current E55, however will be close to mid 400 and of course will be helped with the 7-G tronic.

Other MB engines with this new tech are, the 4.6 V8 with 350 hp, and the new 500 or 5.0 V8 with close to 400 hp.

I would trust those figures.

They are what BMW said. "13 something to 200 km/h"

This is tested by an independent Germany magazine, usually reliable.

Stuka: The torque is only around 350 ft.lb. This is low to me for quick launches. It may do it (will be close though), but I'd bet you a beer it won't.
