EPL 16/16G 1st Drive Report...
EPL 16/16G 1st Drive Report...
Car starts and runs normal. Let it run for a bit holding revs around 1500 for a warm up in the driveway. Checked for leaks, etc. All seems good-to-go.... so I went.
Chugged down my road, which was recently tarred and feathered. The streetsweeper came by yesterday to pick up the tons of loose stone, but tons still there. Was moving at 10mph for 1/2 a mile.
Hit the main road. Smooth and easy now as I'm letting everything get fully warm, and let the small stones come off the tires with minimal velocity.
Speed builds a little. Cruising to the contryside at about 55-60.
Road opens up, I'm out in the widerness. gave it the beans....
2500 rpm and things are happening and by 3500 it is FULL STEAM AHEAD. I stayed in it a couple of times, and it was truely frightening. I wasn't expecting that much of a rush. It was just totally, totally incredible. I really started to sweat. I kept looking for spots to test it some more and I kept realizing that the roads around me were not long and straight enough for this. It is just so cool. It really felt much more agressive than anything I could have ever expected. Any more, and I'll even feel more inadequate, or would go to jail. You should have to pass a "medical" for license to drive these cars.
After a few hours of driving today, I still have not yet become adjusted to the speed and power capable of this. Now please understand that I have had some impressive cars and motorcycles (Z06's, ACR Vipers, turbo Suzuki's, Hayabusa's, etc..) and nothing compares to the rush I had today. Maybe on bikes I'm used to the blast, and know what to expect. In this car now, I wasn't expecting this much. I accelerated briskly from a a stop to a merge where the road goes from two lane to one, gave it a bit extra, went to ludicrus speed and looked in the mirror and was shocked to see long fat black stripes in the road that weren't there before. Turbochargers are so cool.
So, was the ride ruined? No. In fact, I think it idles better now, starting off was a little easier. It didn't miss a beat, and is content to dawdle along with the Corolla's. Push the thin pedal and things change.
I am not paid to endorse this, nor do I expect anything. Just thought I'd let you know, It works. It works well !

I told you !...wait a couple of weeks you will get used to it and will start wanting more power. I went from flash to 16g to 18g in 4 months
the 4th gear on that 16g turbo is just flat out crazy! I just love looking down at the digital speedo and seeing triple digits come up in a flash..
I think i am finally done wanting more power, i just cant afford a blown motor now.
Congrats and enjoy the car and must be rewarding doing it yourself.

Congrats and welcome to the club!! Kudos to you for doing the work yourself. There's nothing like a small K16 hotside for big early torque. Enjoy it in good health.
