How often do you replace your tires?
Just a quick question, I'm wondering what the average life span is for a set of tires on the 996 TT.
I'm aware different tires will wear differently, just wondering about the average case.
I've heard numbers like ~10 000 miles on the rears, ~15 000 on the fronts?

Rears usually last 10,000 if you don't track regularly...that's a rough estimate for a streeter with some mountain driving. The fronts usually last about twice as long as the rears....I end up buying two sets of rears and by the time the second set is down tot he safety bars, it's time for a completely new set. Again...NOT track estimates.
I go through a set of rears every 5,000 - 6,000 miles (between 5,000-6,000 miles, I usually develop cord showing and the tires are bald). I go with new fronts every fourth time, whether they need it or not (because after 3 sets of rears, they are close enough to done and no longer ride like new)

Ditto as with Chuck- like clockwork ... 10,000 for the rears.
My car has just under 18,000 miles
and never been to a race track with it.
I've gone through about 15 sets of tires.
Gas mileage average about 8 mpg.

Statsman is going to love this compilation of scientific data....there appear to be two camps....those who get 10K out of a set of rears, and those who don't. (Enough variables for you Stats?)
Those who don't (as Josh said)...went to the same driving school. The guys who track or otherwise drive it like it's stolen....buy more tires....and are better loved by the Tire Rack. Simple rule of cause and effect.
Bill...You only have 14K on your car? With the warranty replacements you indicated you had done, I figured you must have driven it a lot more than that.

I bought the car at 44000km with almost new PS2...I replaced them at 57000km with Pzero Rosso...now i have 64000km and the fronts are as new while the rears have 40% width left...I never track or drift the car but drive extremely fast on highway turns...i was about to put PS2 again but in Greece pirelli gives an unlimited waranty for full refund even if you cut the tire with a knife...so i went with Pzero...however i am not so sure they perform better in dry than PS2...opinions?
P.S. tire pressures are kept to 36f 44r as stated...Yesterday(when the car was lifted for header repair)i measured the depth in rears and found that on the center of the tire the worn was greater than the edges...small but existing difference in both tires...perhaps porsche recommendation for 44rear is a bit too high...isnt it?
