Should I win?
Should I win?
Ok.. Well I am racing someone tonight, whom I am not as confident as I usually am. The car is a C6 Z06 w/ heads/cam/intake/header/exhaust/tune. He dyno'd 585whp and lower 500's for torque. I dyno'd 599whp, 643 ft lbs. He also has a 100-125hp shot of nitrous but he said he won't use it for this run.
I am not so sure about this. I've raced a C6 Z06 last week and beat it pretty good just til the end of 4th gear, and he had an intake/exhaust/tune.
I'm not trying to sound like a noob or anything, but for once I am actually nervous about racing someone. I know this debate has been going on for a long while, but I figure I'd be 'that guy' and add to it. Should I do it from-to a specific MPH? Most of the time I've done 40-140, but I'd prefer going from 30-130 or 20-120 mainly because I don't want to have to shift into 5th gear. His car is 300lbs lighter w/o driver, and I'm a bit heavier than him as well..
Any predictions? Input?

You likely make peak power and peak TQ before him or pretty close, take advantage of it. Whatever gear you start in, make sure you stay about 3k rpm or so or even 4k rpm. Start at 30 or 40mph then go again at 50-or 60mph and see how that goes. GL
I think it will be a very tough race with the mods the vette has. I would say the higher speed you can take it, the better for you. If you can get him into fifth gear you will probably win. However, that happens at 155 mph or so. At the Texas mile the Z06s have very marginal performance (unless turbo/supercharged) because of the exceptionally tall fifth gear. The vette just almost quits accelerating at that point.
I doubt its safe or practical to take the race to that speed though. Good luck and tell us what happens!

You're not a RUF 550 anymore right?
My buddy has a RUF 550 and I raced him when my ZO6 was 100% stock. If I got the jump I would win by a fender and if he got the jump same result. He would get me by a fender. Those ZO6's are lethal. Sorry but my moneys on the ZO6. GL

When I was making around 580 I had a very very hard time w/ my friends 550 rwhp Z06. They have a weight advantage, fat powerband and put the power down well.
You might outdrive him but I would not put any money down against him.

What are you going to win, $100,000? If not, what does it matter. Have fun and forget about it. If you win, great. If the Vette wins, so what, life goes on. There always a bigger fish in the ocean.
With the mod list for the vette with 100 shot, it makes much more HP than he stated. It should be a close race, he will not walk you. Funny statement though, he will not use it. They all do bro.
you both have the same basic whp, but you have about 100 ft-lbs more of torque, however you weigh about 200-300 lbs more than he does. so the race will be very close. from a dig, he will beat you me thinks. from a 30 mph roll on it will be close. from a 50-60 roll on you might take him but it will be close. if he hits his NOS button, and he will, he will walk away from you
