Stock tire sizes...Brands available?
Ok...in stock tire sizes(225/40 and 295/30) what other options are there apart from Michlin,Pirelli and Conti?Does the R888 exist in these sizes? What should i get for extreme dry grip?
michelin ps2 (n3) now comes in oem sizes. That's probably the best all around tire out there and it's an upgrade from the michelin pilot sport rib (n1).
Sumitomo HTR III going on the fronts of mine this week... Waiting for the rears to wear out and will have a set on the back then... They are probably not the best, but have gotten great reviews for a tire 1/2 the price!
I upgraded to PS2's and don't like them. The straight line grip is no good. I spin them to easily, though not as easily as my conti's. I purchased Nitto INVO's for my other porsche and love the softer rubber and how they grip. much better than ps2's. They do finally have them in 996tt sizes.
I just had PSS10's installed and four Sumitomo HTR III's this week. So far so good - not many miles yet and they still have the tire release "grease' on them so it will take a while to really know how they work. But the price is less then 1/2 of anything else!
I heard of some that are running the new Nittio INVO tire and really like it.
Wet/Dry traction are great and, from what I've heard, it doesn't have much of a comfort compromise.

They are the same rubber (I think) as the highest end dunlop street tire....so they are not bad. Correct me if I am wrong guys. But I heard that somewhere. One copany own's the other, etc.
There are some near R compound tires out there now....INVO's, etc. For normal wear, these sumi's are awesome. They are probably what I'll do my next few DE's on too.. They'll talk to me.

I don't see the stock size in the INVO for the rear. They don't make a 295/30/18 for the 996TT
Why don't you upgrade to 12x18 and run Hankook RS2 315 (they have a blend of rally compound)?
R888 295 get greasy very fast and have a lot of jeep-ish like road noise due to the thread pattern. See video (to show how they get greasy in less than 2 laps): http://www.vimeo.com/5402164
Yokohama Advan Neova is a very grippy tire, very consistent on track although not as slick-like, but gripwise they stay consistent. Also pretty silent and has very low roll resistance good on the road = prob good for drag times.
