Broken Eletrical Connector? GT2 Coilover install and 380/355mm Brembo install
Broken Eletrical Connector? GT2 Coilover install and 380/355mm Brembo install
So I decided I would finally start putting together a bunch of parts that I've stock piled.
I've also manage to find a broken electrical connector or I broke it (most likely). Anyone have an idea what I broke?

Should I use the aftermarket Bilstein Spring cap and then the stock 996 strut mount on top or should I just leave off the spring cap and use the just the stock 996 strut top? Either way will work I know but which is better?

Parts installed this weekend.
-GT2 coilovers front and back. Stock H&R springs and Bilstein coilover struts
-Rear adjustable sway bar links
-Front adjustable sway bar links from Vivid Racing
-Rear 14" 355mm 4 piston 2 piece rotor Brembo Grandturismo Kit (Speed Yellow)
-Front 15" 380mm 8 piston 2 piece rotor Brembo Grandturismo Kit (Speed Yellow)

I'll post pics when I'm done BUT I need help figuring out what connector broke above and if I should use the aftermarket Bilstein strut cap...come one 6speeders I'm counting on your expert advice!

Car looks great! Looks like that part is an angle sensor of some sort. Check out pages 101 / 102 parts 20 and 21.

did you install a bushing sleeve for the front suspension carrier? of just cranked on the pinch bolt? I have a feeling this could be a scary install.

Ok it is a $4 part that I think may have been broken before I got to this install. When I bought the car it had H&R springs, so maybe someone broke it long ago.
On a side note..I still need advice on the spring cap, any suggestions?

If you change the conector just make shure to put it in correct way
many VAG autos used leveling sensors

Looks pretty sweet. I suggest adding some 15mm spacers to tuck the tires nicely with the lowered stance.
If you're going to roll the rear fenders, I think you can even fit 21 or 23mm rears... I've been thinking about test fitting some 21-23mm rear spacers on my car but I've been lazy.

Question on the coilover install if anyone has any experience....
I have the inserts to make them fit and understand how everything goes together now I believe. I'm trying to decide if I want to remove the cast aluminum sway bar link off of the front of the GT2 coilovers.
I'm using some agency power front sway bar link that attach at the pinch bolt of the 996tt hub and the sway bar link so the GT2 link on the coilover is useless.
So if I take that off, should I just turn the single black collar all the way down to the bottom of the threads so the moton insert that goes on the GT2 coilover and in the 996tt hub fits up against the lower single black collar and won't allow the coilover to slide down the 996tt hub? Obviously the pinch bolt will hold it in place but there needs to be something to hold the coilover from sliding

you should be able to use the GT2 sway mount or just use your pinch bolt. I think the coil over mount is a better location as you can adjust the angles for better geometry. I think txgold has done this conversion. check with him..
