Intake Plenium
RSS, thank for the update!! That is a pretty significant difference. It actually improves turbo spool and the whole curve has almost been elevated which is increase in power. Finally, the whole message I've been trying to get across for the past two years are coming to life
Ben: Thank you for posting the dyno results. There has been a lot of speculation about how much advantage there really is to installing the plenum, and this breaks into the TT market...however, I think that the majority of us out here who have modded our cars fall into the category of having the upgrades include a flash, DVs, some sort of free flowing exhaust system, the wastegate kit, and possibly a hybrid turbo. Whereas I realize you can't possibly conduct a test given all the possible variables, is there any way you could do a dyno on ....let's say a "basic" or generalized modded car that has a flash and some upgrades that put it into the most common category of 550-600 crank HP? There is a pretty substantial market of folks out there who fall into this category...me being one of them. If I had some assurances of a definitive improvement of 30-40 hp iin a "basic" modded TT, I'd be inclined to go with one.
For the engineers in the crowd....can you extrapolate the results of the dyno results from the tip and make any projections about what would occur with a modded car?

Well, this is obviously a hot topic, so much debate means there must be something out there, RSS Ben, those stock TT Tiptronic results were on a stock 60 MM TB ? The only thing which potentially stops me going there is the labor will probably cost me as much as the parts aka my Pss9's ?
I have the IPD plenum on my personal 996TT. My butt dyno noticed gains using their 70mm. I recently upgraded to their 75mm setup and on my 750hp turbo I noticed substantial gains. I would recommend 70mm for 600hp and below, and 75mm for anything higher. Most of our customer cars have them, and we highly recommend this upgrade for mid-high hp applications. The install time on this is around 3 hours. +1 To Turbo Mike

The dyno testing was done on a bone stock 2002 996TT Tiptrpnic. I also noticed you mention a 60mm throttle body. The 996TT comes standard with a 70mm throttle body.
Installation time for a Porsche Technician is aporximateley 4 hours.

Thanks

I have done this myself and would concur that it is about a 4 hr. job, if all goes well. Be sure the rubber boots are aligned perfectly and the clamps are straight and secure. It is important to pressure test it. I had a leak the first time and had to go "back in" to re-align and fasten the rubber boot on one side, which was not seated properly. It was a little tricky for me to get both sides on just right, as when I put one side on good, the other side pulled off a bit and vice versa. In the end, I found a method that worked - as long as you know this going in and are aware of it, you should be fine. I would allow the better part of a day or long night and it will be done.

:-) yea, a little frustrating when it happens, but like anything else - once you've done it, it's a lot easier the second time around...now it's just a distant memory and all is good.

If I tell you that TurboMike can do it in less than 2 hours, believe me. With everything intact and a cigarette in his mouth while talking to me LOL. He is one of the best there is....do not race with his big boy, silver 993tt....with only 10 lbs he will peel away like you are standing still
No drop about 4 hours. If the engine is out, I would guess about 15, maybe 20 minutes.
