Thumbs down Posche quality??

I can't imagine how bad Lambo and Ferrari are, Porsche people make fun of them and say Porsche has great quality and is a cheap daily driver sports car, my Porsche has not been a cheap daily drive and always seems to have something wrong, what up with that? From reading all these problem question posts, seems like I'm not alnone.

Well when engine computers are modified amongst other things...what do you expect??? Now if this post was Cayenne directed, I would tend to agree with you. Modded or not, Cayenne's have had their fair share of issues. Hopefully the one I have now is an exception to the rule.

I kind of regret modding my engine, sure it's fast but what a PITA!! Between PSM/ABS lights going off more than a christmas tree, oil burning issues, agh!! Car is in the shop again, trying to get to the bottom of both these issues, damn car only has 18,000 miles and it burns oil like a Lada with 500,000 miles.

Agree with Rockit -- if you upgrade/mod your engine you cant blame Porsche for lack of reliability!

Sounds like our nearly new Cayenne Turbo - without mods.

Well this x50 is the first TT I have not modded and besides the replaced tranny under warranty it has been turn the key and go so far for 7 mos. as a dialy driver for me .....
If I did not use it everyday I would mod the hell out of it anyway!

Yup. If you want a reliable faster car, just buy the next faster car, X50, GT2, CGT, etc. If you play with fire you have to be willing to get burnt once awhile too.

I dunno bout you guys but the problems I've had with my Turbo are non-engine related - mostly electronics, rattles, and loose trim.

Never had any problems with my Turbo. But the engine blew on a 996 C2 I had a couple of years ago. It was one of the early 996ers and these cars are actually pretty infamous for their bad engines.

Although the car was already out of warranty, Porsche paid 50% of the new engine. Not too shabby.

20K miles here, 18K of which have been level 2, 3, and 4 and I have had not one problem engine wise here. Of course there is the occasional leak, but nothing to do with modifications. Very happy here...

Nothing too out of line for a 120k german car

Lexus found ways to eliminate all those nagging problems. Why can't the germans?
