A promise fullfilled
There is no way that you could know how much I (we) appreciate your service, and I want to congratulate you on having a great wife. I had a similar medical episode, and my would-be wife ran for the hills. Keep up the hard work, and it will pay off. Like you said, the doctors don't offer much hope. I can tell you from personal experience that the entire nervous system is a mystery to the doctors, and I have seen amazing things happen. I was in a power chair 8 years ago, and now all I need is a cane. My ankle is still a mess, so I can't drive a manual anymore, but I'm going to get there. I'll come down to Texas and we can race when I do. Keep up the hard work. You'll have days where you want to throw in the towel, and you're entitled to them. Just make sure you get back to work and keep your eye on the prize. I wish you the best, and thank you again.
Guys,
I live in Big Spring. It is 50 miles East of Midland, but I am always looking for an excuse to "be let out of the house". Plus I will have to take it to the dealer in DFW to get it put on, I don't have the tools to do it and for what this car means to me I don't want to mess it up at all. I have been told there might be a mechanic in Midland who could do it, but I called him and he is a) very busy and b) unknown to my wife and I. Since my injury she is uber careful about everything, still feeling like if she controls absolutely everything she can prevent bad things from happeneing to me again. I volunteered for this, she couldn't prevent that or the 9/11 attacks though. The bottom line is that she really is a keeper, she loves me very much and just wants to keep me safe, so she would make me take it have it put on anyway.
I am absolutely blown away with the outpouring of support and gratitude shown by all of you. I wish I could meet each and everyone of you in person and shake your hand and say "thank you", without that (the support of the public) we have nothing to fight for.
I joined 29 May 2001 and went to basic training 6 SEP 2001.....a few days later our world changed forever. I finished basic and started volunteering for more advanced school after school and finally in 2004 I was deployed.
YOU GUYS ALL HELP ME REMEMBER WHAT IT IS I VOLUNTEERED FOR, AND WHY I HAVE TO KEEP WORKING HARD TO GET BACK TO 100%. I appreciate the support and gratitude. I will keep posting pics of my self and new to me car.

I will post pics of my car
I appreciate the gratitude from all. I will let you guys know if the one joe sends out gets lost, does it really happend that much? I know that even a used part like this goes for about a grand so the motive is there, but when we took the car to DFW to get the bodywork done we only saw maybe five Pcars, 3 soccers moms in cayenne's, a carrera and a new 997.
I am sitting at home anxiously awaiting the call from the body shop saying my car will be done and when, like I am waiting on the birth of my firstborn, who by the way is salivating at the mouth of thinking that he might be able to drive it someday. He just got his learners permit and school starts in a few weeks. He won't be driving it anytime soon. Maybe when Prom or homecoming happen (small back seat and special occasion) it makes me glad we didn't get a cayenne.

Maybe a group meeting?
My wife has a close freind in NYC that she went to school with, Joe is there, a close freind of ours (that I went to Ranger school with) won the USweekly dream celebrity, 100k wedding which they will be having SEP 27 in DC. So if possible maybe we can all get together for a meal and shoot the bull.
I do feel like throwing in the towel sometimes. I used to jump from airplanes above 30,000 feet, carry heavy loads on my back for miles and miles, be able to hit a moving target at 300 plus meters. Now I have trouble hitting the toilet, walking around the grocery store and keeping my before this injury, stone-like emotions in check. Everyday is a struggle, we both have to stop and remember how close I was to death and then get ourselves in check with each other. I know I have changed and am not the same person as before, that is more difficult than she will ever let me know I am sure.
All this being said, I have way too much to be thankful for to stay down for long. I have family that always beleived in me and freinds who traveled across the country to see me even while I was in a coma. I keep making new freinds everyday because of this experience and hope I can someday use it to help others who have had similiar injuries while they are on the road to recovery.

You are Truly a blessing to our Country and you have definitely brought the reality of life into perspective, How often we take life for granted, and how precious our wives are. It seems that God has had his hand on you and your family. We ALL appreciate YOU and want to say "Thank You"

I am talking to my wife as I type this and we are going to try to make plans to get to the Texas mile event in October. God willing and if all goes well, we will be there. It would be awesome to meet all of you guys in person. My whole family a very grateful for people like all of you. We hope to see you there.

Part 2 is actually first, I misnamed them and am trying to figure out how to get it renamed after it was posted. My wife is really busy with school right now so I am doing this "en solo". Let me know if it doesn't work correctly. Thanks again for all the help.
