Congrats glad your enjoying the car,

eclipse decks are very nice i dont think you will need subs but a good set of Components should do well focals, image dynamics, mb quarts(too bright for me) there is probably newer stuff out there now. but that would be plenty of bass for such a small cabin.

I went through the entire thread, and I cannot recall another forum whose members are as supportive, generous, and caring of another fellow forum member as 6speed. Thank you for the sacrifices you have made to keep our country safe. Best wishes on continued improvement.

As far as your vehicle is concerned, WOW is all I have to say. Good things happen to good people, and having a RUF Turbo is certainly a priviledge. Having to deal with problems with any high end vehicle can be frustrating, but when they are witheld from the new buyer it's deflating. You made the investment, and the returns will be the ****-eating grin plastered across your face every race weekend, stoplight to stoplight races, and spirited highway runs with a wonderful wife imploring you to "SLOW DOWN!" In my opinion, you cannot beat that experience.

You have your dreamcar, a loving family, and a forum filled with hundreds, if not thousands, in attendance that are captivated by your story and your relentless pursuit to get back on your feet.

I wish you and your family the very best.

I wish

No kiddin. If I could wish for one more thing and have it come true, it would be to win the lottery, so I could throw a thank you party for everyone who has helped my family and I during this time. I would pull out all the stops and make it one hell of a thank you party at that.

Diagnosis

The diagnosis was that the intermediary shaft and gear was trashed. When RUF pulled it apart, they rebuilt the engine, and put in a new clutch. RUF couldn't find any paperwork at the shop in Dallas, but the engine was plastered with RUF stuff and there was RUF stuff all over inside the car as well. They call RUF in Germany and a few days later the reply came back that the car was done before the Dallas shop was set up, so it was done by the guys from Germany. There was a full RUF 550 kit and the top of the line RUF exhaust system installed before I bought it. The only thing I had them do other than that, was billet diverter valves and upgraded hoses, when they put it back together after they rebuilt it at RUF this last time.

You are an amazing and inspiring guy. The best news re: your Porsche is that you have ended up with something very special--a Ruf Turbo. Ruf is well known for taking good care of their customers. I'm glad they tried to save you $ at every turn and given what was wrong with the engine they really did try to take good financial care of you--it's still a heck of lot of $ to suck up. I'm just sorry this has been your first experience with owning one of these machines which are normally immune to even inept and abusive drivers. But Ruf's are few and far between--you have a Turbo that you can be intensely very proud of.

What happened with the bank--no chance of those fools taking part of the hit? After all, it may have been out of ignorance, but regardless they took advantage of you. Telling you a car that required major, really major engine work was good to go with minor repairs is totally reprehensible and unacceptable. My suggestion just for the sake of your quality of life would be following ordinary socially acceptable channels--sic a lawyer on them if necessary.

You've made such astounding progress, display such strength of character in having pushed your way through the really tough days. All I can write is that if anyone deserves to have one of the, if not the single most fun car ever made you are the man. Plus, like many on this forum you don't just have a Porsche Turbo you have a real beast on your hands.

I know money is an issue right now but if you have not done so already invest in a seriously good radar detector. Lots of folks swear by the tried and true Valentine 1, I've veered off from that and have an Escort 9500IX--hooks up to GPS, you get weekly downloads off the internet of the latest photo radar spots, on & on. Can't say enough good things about it--there are a lot of different opinions about this territory (like everything). Since owning the Escort, I have not even come close to getting a ticket. Since you have a Ruf and like to drive fast this device is a great investment. If you're like me one ticket pays for the device--without it the police tend to want to haul you off to jail or charge you with reckless driving (they seem to really dislike it when you are going way over 100 ). Hopefully you are all covered on this & I am just blathering on.

Your car looks absolutely incredible since it's return from the body shop. Be careful out there as they say, what some ancient show like Hill Street Blues?, and enjoy your car--how could you stop yourself. There are a bunch of really great & incredibly knowledgeable guys on this forum and folks will help you out in any way they can. Best of luck & given what you've been through just have fun . Jeff

Hey SPECOPSCT, we're neighbors! I live up in Lubbock and just picked up my used '01 996tt a couple of weeks ago. Maybe we can hook up together one of these days. I go to Snyder to see my in-laws all the time. Let me know!

Thanks for all the support and kind words really! I wish I couls throw a huge "thank you" party at some point. I hope I can make the mile next year, I don't think I will be making a bunch of radical changes to my car for it though.

It was suggested to me that dropping the car one inch all the way around, installing a turbo timer and boost controller. I would like to know what you guys think about that? I really am happy with the car the way it is and dont want to start messing with things because it is my daily driver (I will be taking the metro, a bunch, here real soon though) I love my car and am really happy with it, but would those things make it a noticeable amount more enjoyable, or would it make it more troble than it is worth?
