996TT kill list

After running around for several months I've finally encountered some "worthwhile" opponents. I was going through a dry spell with my encounters, but finally some good runs have come up.

I got a call from a friend of mine a few weeks back telling me he has his Pontiac G8 set up and ready to defeat the Turbo once and for all.

We're both on a local forum and he always nagged me about it, so i went along. He has a modded G8 with bolt-ons (Exhaust, Intake, Tune) and a 150-shot... which is the only reason I figured it'd be a worthwhile run.

We got out and did a 40 roll, with him off the bottle and it wasn't even a race. haha

Next we went from a dig (his choice - not mine) which I wasn't too enthused about but i did it anyways. I had a crappy start, being that i told him i wasn't going to launch the car, i don't want to abuse it. He immediately gained 3 cars on me from the get go but by 50 i started to reel him in and by 80 i pasted him pretty hard. I shut down around 120 and he was at least 5 cars back. He was embarrassed to say the least.

Now that kill was totally crappy compared to the next few kills.

I have a good friend with an evo 8. He has a 2.3l stroker, T67 turbo, alcohol injection, etc... Dyno'd 506awhp. Run from 40-90 i had 1 car length on him and was beginning to pull even harder. We shut down and didn't do any other runs since we both had places to be.

Many of my friends ride bikes, and they're always joking around about the whole bike vs. car thing and how there's just no comparison when it comes to which is faster. Well the 996TT was down for a few weeks a couple months ago - in which I had k24s installed, intake, FVD tuning (for straight exhaust application), 5 bar fpr, ported exhaust manifolds, and straight exhaust (via cutouts). So not many mods... just bolt ons... and when others ask me what it has, i say "all porsche OEM stuff, minus the cutouts and e-mail tune" which is true.

I first ran my friend on his GSXR750 which is modded with an exhaust and chip; he has been riding for 7 years now.... very experienced. We ran from a 60 roll and shut down around 120. He had just 3 bike lengths on me, all which were gained during the initial take-off. I was gaining hard above 100 but we shut it down. When we stopped and talked, he couldnt believe it... he's never seen a car coming up behind him so fast he said, even the high hp ones he's run before.

Later on that night we nearing the interstate and notice 6 bikes ahead of us; he said "lets catch up" . We were up behind them on the entrace ramp, and noticed they were looking back... noticing us too. When we all got on the interstate everything was clear, no one else was out and we all took off at about 40, by 80 I had pulled ahead of most of all 7 bikes.... they were all tucked and wide open. We shut down just over 150 and i had several car lenghths on all of them. Turns out, one of them was a good friend of mine, so all of us pulled in to chat afterwards. They couldn't believe what just happened; there were 5 600s in the group, all which said I was pulling so hard they eventually gave up. The two GSXR750s were doing much better, but they said after 100 i began to pull hard on them and they were pegged... not gaining any ground at all.

All of them refused to believe the car just had bolt ons and Porsche OEM (GT2) turbos

They said thats the last time they'll try and mess with a 911 Turbo... They told me when they saw me behind them they were all sort of laughing and shaking their heads on the entrance ramp because "some silly porsche guy was about to be humiliated by all of the bies..." haha it was .

Cliff notes:

Beat G8 with bolt-ons and 150 shot by many many car lengths
Beat 506awhp evo - by 1 car legnth 40-90 roll
Beat 7 bikes - 5 600s and 2 GSXR750s by several car legnths.

Sorry for the long post, i'm sure the 996tt guys would like to see that just a few bolt ons can go a very long way.

I love racing bikes for that reason. They usually have the most dumbfound look on their face. Also for me it just looks weird when you see a guy on a bike all tucked down going in reverse! LOL.

A stock Liter Bike will give almost any Car serious trouble... Cycle World Magazine took all the latest Bikes and put them up against a Hennessey GT1000 Ford GT...

A stock Kawasaki ZX-10R goes 0-180 mph in 17.2 seconds !!!! The best the 1000 HP Ford GT could do was 20.68 seconds... Not even in the same Universe.

The good news is that Cars are faster above 150 mph.. Sheer Horsepower vs drag wins in the end, as Bikes have the aerodynamics of a barn door. Even the fastest STOCK Bikes barely touch 190 mph, although it's an easy thing to get a Suzuki Hayabusa or a Kawasaki ZX-14 delimited, pipe and tune to hit 200 mph +

In the Texas Mile, the fastest overall production based vehicle (jet powered cars and purpose built Lakesters excluded) is a Motorcycle .. see below.

Scott Guthrie Suzuki Hayabusa 251.147 MPH.

The fastest production based Car is a Toyota Supra at 241.863.

Bikes are a freaking blast.. I am a long time Car AND Bike guy.. each of them fills a certain need for me, but I love each equally...

My best friend owns 24 Cars and 17 Motorcycles... He has a Hennessey Venom 800 and we did a few roll-on races from second gear up.. I was riding my 2006 ZX-10R with velocity stacks, BMC race filter, Akrapovic pipes and a tune, making 173 RWHP... He never got within 8 Car lengths, from any speed in any gear from a roll-on .. We had to shut down at 150 - 160 mph or so, because the road we were on gets sketchy above those speeds.

racin is great but this might make you think.... some years ago while at a customers tow yard..the owner had a blk turbo (maybe an 85 or 86)all roped off and marke police don't touch.... the car had big time front end damage. gary the tow yard owner told me that the car was the one that had killed one or two kids riding in a pickup. as the story went the p was racin a moto and hit the truck broadside i filed it away in my memory banks and as fate would have it a year or so later a friend gave me a phone no. to call regarding some cheap parts. he said the was hot to dump this stuff.. can't remember how this went but this no. was a jail house no and the guy was the one who owned the blk porsche.... so be aware of whats going on while racing the cost can be great be safe and stay outa jail steve

Thanks steve harris for a voice of reason.

The rest of you YAHOOO's spend $200.00 and go to the track rather than putting people at risk with your stupid behavior on the street.

Cheers!
