Latest C6 Z06 rendering for you Shank
According to someone who has seen the car , this photoshop is very close , although there may be a rear spoiler lip added and Ferrari F430 style vents on the sides around the corner from the fog lights . Corvette chief Dave Hill always said the Corvette is a working man's Ferrari - well looks like he meant Ferrari 575 , LOL !

You mean "notchback" as opposed to the standard "hatchback." Actually, I've been reading from several sources that the 2006 Z06 will be in "hatchback" form this time around which makes complete sense in terms of cost and development. I recall that the reason they went to notchback on the 2001 Z06 was based on structural integrity and performance. The C6 chassis in hatchback form is suppose to be fully capable of 500HP+ and top Corvette handling.

thanks for the heads up. Although I greatly prefer the roof line of the C5 Z06 over the regular C5 coupe.

That's right. "Fixed-Roof Coupe" another name for no targa-type top that's commonly available and standard on all C-5 hatchback Corvette coupes (2001-up). GM's Dave Hill couldn't afford to have the top available on the Z06 since it sacrificed structural integrity, hence the different notchback design.

The FRC body is dead . It's short greenhouse and vertical rear glass cost the C5 Z06 10 mph top speed. The C6 Z06 will use the coupe's more aerodynamic sloped hatch , but will have a fixed , non -removable top to enhance rigidity . Some say they have supplier moles who claim the C6 Z06 MAY have the long rumored aluminum frame which would save 200-300 pounds , but most doubt GM bean counters would sign it off .
Mehrabani - I don't see anything ricey about this photoshop . It's the base car styling with intake hood scoop ala 575 for cold air ( base C6 draws air from inside engine compartment) , larger radiator opening/grill to compensate for bigger motor's higher heat generated , rear brake cooling ducts , wider fenders for the bigger 275-19 and 345-20 tires needed to put down the power and possibly a thin rear deck spoiler needed for 190 plus . Everything functional- nothing for bling unless you count the darkened headlight housings versus ugly body colored on the base car . Of course , the car will not be " slammed " like this p-shop nor will the wheels ( which are correct ) have the blacked out areas between the twin spokes.
OTOH, 99% of the body kit mods - esp some front clips and batmobile wings the boarders breathlessly show off here ....

It's performance is near the exotic car realm , but the sheer number produced year after year will mean used ones for high $30s in a couple years for the " working man " - who of course will add superchargers, nitrous , twin turbos...

NOOOO, don't say the FRC is dead

I was waiting for the FRC's to come out to see if I liked the C6, cause I don't like the slanted glass. The FRC C5's are HOT!
