Forced upgrade!
Forced upgrade!
Prepping the car for DE at Mid-Ohio next weekend. Everything is done except bleeding the front brakes. Open the first bleed screw, my wife pumps the brake a couple of times, and when I go to tighten it again - Nada! - threads are stripped out. I tried to find someone with used OEM calipers, but no luck, at least not fast enough to make the DE on Friday.
So, I was forced to upgrade to the GT3 6-pot calipers. Dan at Vivid hooked me up. They should be here tomorrow. And he was nice enough to take back the brand-new, unused Pagid yellows I had just bought for the OEM calipers. That was a really cool thing for him to do.

Nice execution on getting the wife involved in the "failure" of the bleed valve! I will have to try that one! Sorry, honey, you pressed the pedal too hard. Now I need to GT3 calipers...
My wife is sitting next to me reading this... So...
As always, you are my instructor, Jon!

I wish I was actually that clever!
Jon, you will love this upgrade, one of the first I did. I got a years worth of pad wear out of my last set with these calipers. And they help control the weight of the turbo. I use Pagid yellows up front and Pagid blacks in the rear to help balance the front bias of the system.

Calipers arrived today, and the installation went smoothly. Unfortunately, they shipped the wrong pads, so I haven't tested this yet. Talked to Dan, and the correct pads will go out today and should be here tomorrow.

Dan wears the helmet and rides the short bus for the week!!!!
Everything was sitting on the doorstep when I arrived, and 20 minutes later, everything was installed. Thanks to Dan for helping me out with the calipers, and then getting on the immediate correction of the pads.
Will post something after the weekend DE.
