starting car without using clutch
yes. I was told that starting the car without the clutch depressed less of a load on the TOB. But the downside, there is a good chance you will be upgrading your bumper and doing a house buildout

I did it for the RSS clutch stop for my high engaging clutch.
On most motorcycles they have a clutch switch like the 996. There is also a different map in the bike ECU when the clutch switch is activated. i would have never believed it but we dyno'd a race bike with the clutch switch jumpered and it made less hp. Basically the bike ECU retards the timing when the clutch is pulled in. It was explained to me as a safety feature so riders can't over rev the bike with the clutch in.
I don't think the 996 is that advanced but maybe someone here with ECU knowledge will chime in.

Is there a mechanical advantage or disadvantage to starting the car without pressing
did mine under 60 seconds i used 30 amp fuse no problems with cruise if you cant leave your car in neutral i suppose its not for you.
heh yeah definetly not !!

Not worth the risk of some idiot tech launching your car through a wall when you take the car into the shop, imo.
Anytime you drive the car, even for a short trip, you probably actuate the clutch at least 30 times. Is one more clutch in to start the car really a big deal?

I recall a thread or post where someone wired a switch to complete the circuit. Can't find it now, of course, but it made sense to me at the time. Also serves as a "poor man's" anti-theft device.

I don't have a shop with idiot techs lol. it's my choice and i'll deal with any *potential* consequences.
I'm not too worried about it as you can imagine, and any less stress I can put on the accumulator I will.
think that was slider. he added a toggle switch that had to be on/off for the car to start. iirc?
My current thinking is to tap the the existing wires before the clutch switch and run them to another momentary switch that I'd add. This way, stepping on the clutch or pressing the button would defeat the ignition lockout, my choice. If someone else is behind the wheel, their learned behavior of stepping on the clutch will work just fine.
So if someone else is driving for whatever reason, and let's say that stall it out (my clutch is a b!tch), the basic clutch-in, key off/on, clutch out protocol is intact. And no warnings or special lessons are needed at any shop or valet.
Seems ideal to me. Now I'll spend the next several weeks or longer deciding on the combination of switch type and mounting location.

yes, no we are disallowed from referring to a female dog or those things of theirs they continually lick! why? because they can
we can however say the dog's bollocks. lol
in the meantime, clutch switch wire twisting is a great mod
