i just wanted to be able to start my car without having to get into it and sit down
obviously this mod is not for everyone
obviously this mod is not for everyone
Really... What's the difference? (I wasn't aware of any engine oil pressure going into the clutch)
bearing wear in the engine when you clutch in and motor is off.... research it...

first mod I did, less then a hour after GT2 was home...I did a bypass but like the switch idea...
Slider, it is beneficial to the main/thrust crank bearings during start-up as there is no side force on the crank when there is no oil pressure(start-up)

bottom line i dont want to see me main/thrust bearings again anytime soon so if this helps with that by any percentage at all? it's a wise move.
like i'm gonna hit something' lol sheesh

Not sure it's a big deal on these cars but lookup crank walk on the DSM motors. When you start putting in heavy clutches the wear goes way up and one of the ways to help this issue is fire it without clutching. I like the idea of a momentary switch to jump the stock switch, have to admit I'm pondering it myself!
lol was thinking of the same example as well...buddy of mine is dealing with mega 'crank-walk' on the EVO4 he bought....

Just did this mod, with a twist.
I tied into the existing leads on the switch, and ran wires from those ties to a rocker switch mounted to the oval coverplate to the left of the headlamp controls. This way, either stomping the clutch or hitting the new switch serve as the ignition safety.
Easy mod, glad to have finally gotten it done.

Thanks. I wanted to keep the standard behavior in case some unforeseen circumstance keeps me out of the driver's seat.
And the switch has a small amber LED so it looks about as stock as such a mod can.
Worth the wait!
