Which model did you go with? I tried the lightweight route and it was more of a PITA than it was worth.

Don,

Which battery did you try?

Is there a good LW battery (say 25 Lbs or so) that will not be a pain, but will still shave some significant weight vs. the OEM? I drive my car almost every day.

I have the Odyssey PC925. It is 5lbs more than the 680 but holds its charge for a week no problems. It also saves 26.4 lbs over the stock battery.

I have the lightest/smallest Odessy and really cool lightweight bracket.
My car lives on a trickle charger. OK for limited use but not OK for Daily
Driver. Pathetic cranking power.

is it worth the weight savings to shorten the life of your alternator? I have a battery that weighs more than the original, it could probably start a battleship, but at least I know my alternator has little work to do, and the windings will not overheat repeatedly causing failure to come sooner.

i got the braille auto racing battery that weighs 15lbs.
used it through out the winter in my 300zx. no problems.

dry cell, more power than a acid battery, you can mount it anywhere.
and it's a deep cycle battery too. (meaning you can run it dry and recharge it with no ill effect)

my Z has a 3.0l V6. you guys have 3.4-3.8 engines so idk if the battery has enough power to crank over your engines or not.

my Z is daily driven.

I guess I am looking for a compromise that it is a little more durable that PC925 but not OEM, guess I should try the Odyssey PC1200 which is 16KG vs 11KG

I don't remember the exact model but if you search on here you should be able to find it. It's an E series but I don't remember the model number (92 maybe)?

I just removed one of the expensive little Braille batteries with bracket and went back to my Optima 35. too many cranking problems with the little one.

It's for sale if anyone wants to buy some trouble.
