2nd gear pop out - can you just live with it?

My 01 996t w/ 42000kms pops out of 2nd on overrun or lightly tipping in the throttle when on overrun.

Will this get worse and progress to a point where it will be catastrophic of can I just live with it. Its ok under power and in all other gears and shifts fine, just pops out. I am looking at some serious money here to fix it so keen to understand how long I have before it gets critical to do.

My car popped out of 2nd gear about a year ago for the first time since I've had it. Now I just make sure I don't do anything that would cause it to do that and I've experienced no problems since then.

I have been told by a couple Porsche techs that it can be left alone and you are not causing collateral damage by not addressing it..... I am guessing some will chime in here differently though.

i'm pretty sure mine would've run indefinitely with the issue, but the car was warrantied. it's just annoying as hell, beyond that.. nothing much. but i'm far from expert.

they did, but i couldn't characterize it is as no ???'s by any means. i went in armed and ready to literally do battle. after doing all of my homework right here, in fact. i've posted at great length about how it all went down, and it was all very recent. the full details of my experience can be found in that older thread "2nd gear popout" etc. i wouldn't wish that on anyone, but i emerged successfully, but i had also JUST bought the car, so i'm sure that was huge factor if not even a determinant, on their (pcna/dealer) end.

Thanks, will give me time to build up the slush fund a little. No crunching or popping out under power but will keep an eye on it and keeping running it as is.
